I saw a summary that indicated the trailer was a big hit at Comic-Con (or whatever convention this was) but I'm with you: that trailer doesn't make me excited to see the movie.

I will see it - I've seen every Spielberg movie ever made and won't stop now - but the trailer doesn't get me excited for it...

I think a really good movie made on the theme of "all the world is a video game" is eXistenZ by Antenna—or David Cronenberg. Or was that transCendenZ by Pilgrimage?

Currently batting o% at Rotten Tomatoes, this movie will die a very quick death, whoever green lit this nonsense deserves the axe.

Dunno if this happens everywhere, but in the DC area, virtually everything gets a "Thursday night preview". It's not a sign of confidence in a film - it's simply the way they do it now...

A negative comment, but their marketing has subliminally worked since you were compelled to use the puke emoji to express your dislike.

..and yes, I used the laugh emoji to go with *my* comment. We are all victims, here!

I wasn't being negative at all. It was just an opinion comment.

That Emoji Movie is getting frickin' hammered. I haven't seen that many venomous reviews for a single film in a long time. I have yet to see one that has even the slightest positive thing to say about it.

The consensus seems to be: not only is the movie bad, but anyone involved with making it, or who buys a ticket for it, should feel bad.

...which means, of course, that it's probably gonna clean up at the box office this weekend :p

    Kidnap.

Halle Berry is not a big star anymore. her name (and Just her face on the poster) can't carry a movie to success. The premise appears to be 'badass mom takes on bad guys'. Gee, that sounds original.

To me this looks like a modern twist on the Soul Cinema genre of the 70's. It's a pink popcorn flick. If Pam Grier had was in her 40's she would have been perfect for it. :D

That chiming song in the Ready player one trailer sounds like the song Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and The Chocolate factory

Atomic Blonde, which I just saw, is getting some decent reviews and looks like it could do well in its debut week.

Thanks! I avoid most "movie-specific" threads until I've seen the movie in question! :)

Will see this one but might not be for a few weeks. My girlfriend wants to go and we're gonna have trouble finding room in the schedule for a movie until late August. Hope it's still playing by then!
