In the new issue of Mojo magazine with John Lydon on the cover, it states at the end of the article that Universal will be releasing a 40th anniversery deluxe edition of the album in October. I'm wondering what they may come up with next, content wise etc....

Yet another reissue? This has to be one of the most re-released albums ever.

Maybe they'll mix the Belsen demo without the vocals buried this time :) There's no way that mix was vintage, so they probably knew this re-issue was coming up. Ha!

Out of interest - what was the other mix of Belsen like, that was released on a RSD 7" a while ago, compared to the CD version?

    God almighty!!!

Seeing this advertised as 40th anniversary makes me feel as old as I am.

Someone said that this album's release date, time wise, is closer to the second World War than it is to today's date. Yet it doesn't feel THAT long ago :(

In 2027 there will be a 5oth anniversary edition, they need to save something for that.

Isn't the 2012 version basically definitive? From everything I've read it's the best sounding digital one and the super deluxe box has a ton of content. I'll probably pick up the 2012 2CD deluxe and bypass this one - not a fan of super-deluxe or multi-format sets. We'll see if this new one ends up being either of these, and if they'll better the mastering of the previous.

it really is amazing how much mileage they have gotten out of the one album, isn't it?

I thought the 35th box set was superb. If this new one is anything up to that standard......then no doubt I'll be suckered in.

The great Discogs has 328 releases:
Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols

Don't mind a release that takes an album's experience to the next level:
Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols
    nor attempts to raise resolution:
The Sex Pistols* - Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols
    or format wise:

Hey, if 'we' would stop spending the $$$...

What could they possibly include in this that would justify abandoning the BluRay edition? They already perfected this album!

This is all time and effort that would be better put into the next deluxe PiL box.

Seriously, stop reissuing Bollocks and do a 2CD edition of Swindle, collecting the rarities at the very least. How about a Johnny B. Goode/Road Runner-style rehearsal tape with Biggs? Surely something like that exists, and would be a laugh. The Professionals have been pretty thoroughly reissued recently, it's time to for the link between them and Bollocks to get some attention. Who is going to object, or stall it for filthier lucre? Not McLaren or Biggs, and I don't see why Temple would be against it.

Confession: I don't care if the Sex Pistol members or some record company or some investment company makes money off of this.

A teenage me would be pissed and bothered with this occurrence, but, modern day? It's all about the money.
A legendary group like the SexPistols and PUNK music seems like a movement, but these guys weren't civil rights leaders, they were something else.
If punk actually existed today, the remaining Sex Pistols would take the original tapes of this album and destroy them all. Then rip up any remaining contracts for rights and ownership to this album or relapse the copyright to the Public Trust.
This album sounds fine on cassette, anyway.

We don't need soft drink/alcohol/automobile/department store commercial featuring these songs or do we?

Malcolm would not have liked that. And he was the Fifth Pistol, whatever some might say. Or sixth, depending on how you are counting.

The RSD Belsen sounded basically the same, just slightly different mixing. Vocals still coming from across the street.
