Oh my god someone who absolutely loves fly by night! I always thought it was an underrated album. It is a very fun album to listen to, anthem, best I can, beneath between & behind, by tor on one side and fly by night, making memories, rivendell, in the end on the other side. Simple and great songs.
A few years ago I listened Velvet Underground and Nico every day btw.

I have not listened all my life to this pair of albums by Judas Priest from 1977 and 1978 but I have become somewhat obsessed with them these last few years. Recorded prior to arriving at their better known, commercially successful, stadium anthem incarnation, these two have me wonder what was going on in their heads as there are no obvious influences from which they descended. While listening I'll sometimes look over other hard rock releases of that year and years previous, contemplating how these albums came about as they are like strange, rare wines among factory beer. Or in archaeological terms, after years of Neanderthalis Hard-rockius discovering and examining the greater frontal lobe of Homo Sapien-Metallius.

I definitely agree. There's probably bits and pieces of various influences but hard to tell. Stained Class, when I heard that, sounded so unique and so fresh, still does after all these years. Sabbath may have been the first heavy metal band, but in my mind Judas Priest were the first HEAVY metal band: a major stepping stone for everything that came after.

I have at times been pretty obsessed in finding certain rare albums I've wanted but I can't say that I'm obsessed with any particular album once I have it. Lots of really wonderful albums mentioned here though.

I have 34 copies of Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols on vinyl, 10 on CD (one of them with the 80's long box), one cassette, and a DVD documentary on the record.
    I am still buying.
I believe I am obsessed with this one.

My list would be huuuuuuge (LOL) so I'll go with my undisputed number 1: "The Doors" debut release "The Doors". I listen to it at least once a week on on multiple vinyl pressings of it as well as have it on CD and in MP3 format.

The Doors, Paul Rothchild, and Bruce Botnick created this masterpiece in under a week in the studio with few overdubs using a 4 track with 1 of those tracks reserved for overdubs. As Manzarek said on more than one occasion, this album was basically "The Doors live in the studio". They recording also has a powerful sound to it as it was competing with others in the era of "the wall of sound".

Overall, I'm in love with the simplicity of the recording process as much as the content of the record ....
