Well it clearly is easy, and you guys wanted to be soldiers, so now we move onto Round 2

DQ: Where do you rank this among John Lennon's solo albums.

"Oh Yoko!" for my first choice. And while I'm well aware that "How?" will go this round, I like it too much to vote it off just yet. So I pick "Oh My Love" instead.

DQ; It's my favorite Lennon album.

    "How" nice and easy

POB is probably the best but Imagine is close and much more enjoyable to listen to

But if Double Fantasy had been all John - including the songs on Milk & Honey- it would have been a contender. Even as is the best songs are easily the equal of the best from POB/Imagine

    2nd or 3rd. "POB" = #1 and it's a toss-up between "Imagine" and "W&B" after that...

    My favorite Lennon album.

Btw, if Crippled Inside or Gimme Some Truth doesn't win, I will have to break something.

Gimme some truth and how (as opposed to Dewey, Cheatham and Howe).

POB is my favorite and I'd probably rank Walls and Bridges next. This album and Mind Games would be tied, just slightly below that one. Definitely far ahead of Double Fantasy.

Update: didn't vote for a second track. tough but went with "How Do You Sleep" - no issue with John's jabs at Macca but the rest are better songs

Yoko and Imagine (not the song's fault, but it's awfully overexposed. Up there with "Born in the USA" and "Every Breath You Take" in terms of being misinterpreted, too.)

DQ: My second favorite after POB. Along with Paul's first three, they're my five favorite solo Beatles albums and quite possibly the only really essential ones in my view.

In what way is "Imagine" misinterpreted? If you can say without getting in trouble. :)

  20. "How Do You Sleep?"- once again, a terrific song, but...

DQ?: "Imagine" & the 1980 material of "Double Fantasy" and "Milk & Honey", are my very favorite, & I think his greatest solo works, but.. I can say that I love "Plastic Ono Band" almost as much & that I think it's clearly at same same degree of masterpiece level greatness as "Imagine" or the 1980 material. After that "Mind Games" and "Walls & Bridges" are both terrific albums too... just not quite at the dizzy heights of the aforementioned...

In my experience at least, a lot of people see it as strictly an appeal for peace. It is partially that, but "imagine no possessions" goes rather farther than that.

I think if John would have done an album of just him w/ the songs from "Double Fantasy" & "Milk And Honey" that would have been a contender for one of the best of any solo Beatles record.
Also even being a split album w/ Yoko "Double Fantasy" is my favorite Lennon album.

I would put that right below POB among Lennon albums. But also under a fair number of Paul and George albums.

The half John DF still edged out Mind Games for me, as MG has nothing to touch Starting Over, Woman or Watching the Wheels.
