The Weakest Link- John Lennon, IMAGINE-Round 2

I'd take the title track, Out the Blue, I Know (I Know), You Are Here and Meat City over any of those songs.

 

Had voted for How and Oh Yoko, but then gave a listen to several of the songs, and changed my vote to Crippled Inside only. The song I like the least on the record, along with Soldier, and find the later more interesting despite its repetitiveness.

If it remains a tie between How and Oh Yoko will vote to save How, which I rather like.

How do you sleep shows John at his worst, but I'm a fan of the song musically nontheless. One of his best imo.

While I am well familiar with John's solo work, I tend to listen to it as separate songs, so it's hard for me to actually rate his albums.

 

I will say I'm not too fond of the overall "tone" of this album... preachiness, hipocrisy, hostility, and a rather shallow understanding of politics imo. Like the songs though lol.

 

DQ: Coming from somebody who loves STINYC, I rank it #1.

 

Errr, we are not discussing STINYC.

 

Don't give up too easily on the Yoko factor.

 

I'm not sure what that means in relation to my post...

 

Because you are already conceding that "How?" is going to be voted off.

 

It happened the first time and I think it will happen here, yes. I hope I'm wrong, though...

 

DQ: I think it is the best of Lennon's solo albums, but it's not my favorite one to listen to from start to finish. That's MIND GAMES.

DQ: Imagine is Lennon's second best album IMHO right behind Plastic Ono Band.

Had to go with Imagine. I know it's a brilliant song but I've heard it so many times it has lost it's magic for me. Forgot how many songs I absolutely love on this album. It's my number 1 John record.

Only 'Milk And Honey', 'Rock 'n' Roll' and 'Some Time In New York City' under it. 'Walls & Bridges', POB, 'Mind Games', 'Double Fantasy' above.

Want to kill off the title track the most, but went for ‘How?’ and ‘Oh My Love’ for now.

Voted against Imagine and How Do You Sleep.

I'd rank it just behind Double Fantasy and Mind Games, marginally ahead of Milk & Honey.

 

Oh My Love is probably one of my favorite Lennon tracks ever, and my favorite on the album. Kinda sucks to see it voted so much.

 

Every time I think of Imagine...I remember the film footage and how John seemed to be pizzed off and angry most of the time. IIRC...it was the last time Harrison would be a part of John's sessions.

 

How Do You Sleep?

I think it is Lennon's best album.
