Does anyone know anything about this Sumiko cartridge?

Is this an older version of the Sumiko Blue Point?

Yea, I think that's the really old version of their high output moving coil, 2.5mV, probably early to mid 90s. Not worth anything now, and suspension probably no good anymore. Are you using it? I probably wouldn't, but if it hasn't been used much and the suspension is still good (doubtful) then you might get some use from it. For a moving coil, I'd go for something more recent, and of known history.

 

Not mine, it is an eBay listing I was looking at last week. Curious - if I hook a used Rega Planar 3 (or RP 3) at a decent price, will my Nagaoka MP-110 cartridge be compatible without significant modifications? I guess what I'm asking is would it be plug and play, or am I going to need shims or spacers or such things. At this stage of this vinyl journey, I'm not likely to spend more than $250 or so on a cartridge, and I'm not ready to spend a whole lot on a turntable yet. I have what I think is a pretty good preamp (Schitt Mani). Also any particular cartridge recommendations for this table I would appreciate, especially in the sub $250 range.

 

Indeed. I'd retire it as its age and unknown history (100 hours? 1000 hours? 5000 hours??) make it a threat to your records.
