Too Many People defininetly was, different interviews he mentions which parts are about John. Dear Boy is about Linda's first husband, which I think is a bit of a strange topic.

You get two votes this round, so you can pick both "Crippled" and "Yoko" if you want.

    Agree on "How?" btw. :righton:

How and Oh My Love, but it could have just as easily been Crippled and Yoko.

DQ: A close second to POB.

There's lot of "Imagine" (the song) negativity still to come I'm sure. It's a grass roots campaign just getting itself organized. :)

Crippled Inside. Not one of his strongest compositions, although the slide almost saves it.

DQ: A close 2nd to POB, although overexposure of the title song may have dropped it a bit over the years.

A shame the Beatles didn't reconvene as they were all pretty productive in this era.

"Jealous Guy" and "How Do You Sleep" are my choices to be voted off.
DQ: Probably distant 2nd to POB but truth be told I enjoy listening to Rock and Roll over this one. John's solo catalog is frustratingly mediocre to me. Sadly, he was robbed of the chance to redeem it.

    I've never appreciated the song.

Maybe I'm wrong but I've always considered it a tad hypocritical, naive (deliberately or otherwise) and smug.

    How and oh my love.
This is my favorite John Lennon solo album, although Plastic One Band is really close.

IMO the title track is the one that belongs in that exulted company. The others good but not great. Lennon was on fire song writing wise with Double Fantasy

It's a beautiful song. Possibly John's best ever love song or at minimum top 5.

Yes John expressed his feelings like he always did. Not one to bottle things up. And not long after was probably sending Xmas cards to Paul & Linda!

YMMV of course, but I like It's So Hard a lot, and am really surprised to see Oh My Love getting votes.

It is one of my favorite Lennon melodies.

I voted off How? and Yoko.

The whole truth..according to Lennon at the low point of his relation with McCartney...
I have no doubt that was how he felt....putting it on a record with utopian songs where the '..world will be as one..'. I think his ultimate statement about the Beatles was 'God'.

DQ: Imho, POB is still the best Lennon solo album, "Imagine" might be his second or third best. I have a soft spot for "Walls and bridges".

Voted off "Imagine" for the crappiness of its lyrics

I think people might be voting for Oh Yoko because they don't like a certain Japanese conceptual artist. It's actually a pretty catchy song. And I don't even like Yoko.

There would some of that. Not really a fan either although I don't dislike her. Has she been very annoying and irritating at various times? Yes! "Oh Yoko" is a bouncy little love song that for me is one of John's best

Yep, I'd play Oh Yoko on endless loop for an hour before I would play How Do You Sleep once. I'd probably still be dancing around the room at the end of the hour.

In '71? Ringo and George only released singles of new material. I liked both of them--"It Don't Come Easy/Early 1970" and "Bangladesh/Deep Blue"--but they weren't THAT productive.

    He was, kind of:

FWIW, 'Jealous Guy' may have been the flipside of 'How Do You Sleep', at least according to McCartney:

"He used to say, 'Everyone is on the McCartney bandwagon.' He wrote 'I'm Just a Jealous Guy,' and he said that the song was about me. So I think it was just some kind of jealousy."

It's a pity the journalist didn't ask him whether John himself had told him that. Guess Yoko is more likely.
