Twice in the last week I got deliveries from Amazon by older people using just their cars at very late hours.

Been common here for over a year now. Not just elderly ( trying to add a little $$$ to their lives ), but also Moms with kids in the car, and teenagers. Folks got to work, to get money, so they can eat.

It's not amazon, likely UPS or another mail carrier

Amazon. Tracking numbers begin with AMZ. They also have uniforms, and marked vehicles.:tsk:

When will Amazon partner with Uber? Or maybe Amazon will just buy Uber.

Absolutely is it is Amazon. They have a program kind of like Uber/Lyft where you can sign up to make deliveries. I think you get about $60 for 4 hours worth of deliveries, last I looked.

The program is called Amazon Flex...

I got a few Amazon deliveries last Sunday, which threw me off. And it wasn't USPS or FedEx...was just a regular van.

Amazon is, yet again, leading this trend in supply chain. One of the reasons they called the program "Flex" is it's as much flexible for THEM as it is for the people who delivery. Look for it becoming more common place very soon in with ulimate user downstream supply chain ............

Uber drivers have been dropping off my Amazon purchases for a few months now. It is kind of strange. My neighbors probably think I'm a drug dealer with all the strange cars stopping by on a regular basis.

Walmart has their own employees drop off customers orders on their way home from their workplace which is Walmart to fulfill the order. I do not think they are compensated in any way either. This sounds like what's happening with Amazon. Amazon employees or relatives of employees help Amazon to deliver ordered goods from their facility to the customers who ordered them. I think they get some compensation for it as well.

How can that possibly be legal? If the employees are hourly, it would have to be a violation of federal labor laws. If they're salaried, perhaps not, but being required to use your own vehicle, fuel, and time for work-related activities without any compensation is a pretty strong indication that it may be time to pursue other opportunities elsewhere.

It's a LDC (Local Delivery Carrier.) The one that delivers my packages here in Northern NJ is called Lasership - they suck. Tracking numbers are always "AMZL"

Here, the delivery people are great. They even take a photo of the package leaning against my door, and add it to the order info. on Amazon.
