This is one minute and twenty-seven seconds of heaven from 55 years ago. From a surviving 2" color videotape.

I remember his show. I turned 10 in 1961. He always closed his show with a few bars of "16 Tons", if I remember correctly.

Man, when the three of them are singing together towards the end they sound like the Andrews .. Brothers...or something .:D

Pure rock & roll (and country) bliss. Thanks!

IIRC, isn't there a clip of the 3 of them doing "Bird Dog" from the same episode?

BTW, Tennesse Ernie Ford is 42 in this clip. Don 24, Phil 22.

What I love about both clips is how Ernie is so obviously & sincerely down with the EBs, unlike the often condescending attitude displayed toward rock acts by many of the older* TV hosts of that era.

Tennessee Ernie Ford and the Everly Brothers at their best. Only thing lacking out of this is more of the same. Does not get any better than this!

Pretty amazing on a lot of levels. The color is stunning. Back then you had to have real talent to pull that off. Loved his acting in I Love Lucy. Very enjoyable video....thanks as always for sharing.

I don't know why but I always thought of Tennessee Ernie Ford as a hillbilly Walt Disney.

The filmclip may be in living colour, but I love the look of the B+W guitar!

I've seen a longer version of this clip with them monkeying around about the guitar and telling the story of the multiple people playing the guitar. But the song is still the best part. Love me some Everlys.

I love it when people turn me on to something I'm not interested in. Makes me feel like I've still got a chance to learn something. Congrats on the find!

Colour videotape surviving since 1961? Great stuff, better than the BBC archives could muster!
