The wait is almost over: Taylor Swift is expected to release new music on Friday, according to multiple sources.

The superstar is set to debut the first single from her upcoming sixth album, although she could surprise everyone and drop the entire album itself.

Swift is also rumored to be debuting the music video for said single at this Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by her former friend Katy Perry.

After wiping clean her Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Tumblr accounts, in addition to her website, Swift sent fans into a frenzy by posting two cryptic videos of a snake moving its tail Monday on her social media platforms.

I've enjoyed quite a bit of her past work, so I'm definitely looking forward to Friday. My facebook and twitter feeds have been going crazy with speculation, but I just want the music.

Looking forward to seeing what direction she's taken. I've heard rumours of a return to her country roots, but we'll see.

The font the title is in suggests a heavy metal album with a Tony Iommi guest appearance.

It does look a little 'rappy'. Lord, I hope not. Striking cover though.

Reminded me of John Lennon's "Some Time in New York City" album cover; but the headlines are all about Taylor.

always kind of liked the fact that, as a remarkably attractive woman, she's avoided splashing too much of herself across her album covers in that regard, instead going with what seems like a relatively straightforward set of images that appear to be focused more on the music itself. (to a certain extent--i mean, this IS pop music!)

all said, looking forward to hearing what she's been working on--1989 really won me over.

If nothing else, I'm eternally grateful to Ms. Swift for sparing us an updated version of the image in STINYC's upper right corner. Yeesh.

I went on google to try to find the name of the font, and ran into an article about Kanye and others co-opting heavy metal fonts, so I think you're probably right.

I liked 1989 well enough, which was a major surprise to me. Never heard any of the older albums, but I'll probably give the single a listen.

gregorya I approve of this message

I have carefully studied the various clues thus far, and by also examining some anagrams of the album's title, I think we can safely come to some conclusions:

    Our Patient
    A True Point
    Petunia Rot
    Urinate Pot
    Opiate Turn
    Port Auntie
    Unto Pirate
    Peanut Riot
    Our Neat Tip
    Painter Out
    Teapot Ruin
    Orate Input
    Utter Piano
    A Toe Turnip
    Upon Attire
    Puritan Toe
    Nutria Poet
    Anti Pouter
    Patio Tuner
    Rent Utopia
    Pat Routine
    At Eruption
    Up To Retina
    Neat Rip Out
    Pea Into Rut

    pretty obvious, huh?

    ;)

From the look of the album cover, it seems like this is another pop album (as opposed to country).

Definitely doesn't seem like a country record. Anyway, never liked much of her stuff, but do think she has a chance to make a really killer album here. She's finally got something to say that isn't about boys. Hope it's a confessional in the vein of Blood on the Tracks or Pinkerton. Alas, there's always the pressure from label execs to make it radio friendly...
