He made his best music in this era, in my opinion offcourse. I'm looking forward the most to concert recordings (Cobo Hall, Le Zenith ('86), Paard van Troje) and the outtakes from the same period (Open Book, Crucial sax version).

    Damn it's good.

I know, I know, it's "Wally", and by any rational standard it can't possibly measure up to its hype. It's not THE GREATEST SONG IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND or even close. But it's truly wonderful. It's pure Prince genius. I really enjoy it, for all of its weirdness. I saw it written elsewhere to imagine the mythical original "Wally" by viewing this leaked version like the subsequently-released less impressive "Old Friends 4 Sale" and the original "Wally" like, well, the original "Old Friends".

    Wouldn't that be something.

  3. I, too, think "Wally" is amazing, because I can only imagine it with great SQ.

It's so quirky and well thought out.

If the earlier version is in the vaults, then we'll hear it. Eventually.

and the two new bootleg box sets have leaked, Blast From The Past 4.0 and 5.0

some terrific stuff on there, will be a lot of work to compare versions,
but I'm willing 2 do the work ;)

The 12" vinyl b-side has the 10 minute version and you should check it out even just for the amazing bass solo (that is not on the recently leaked demo). Highly recommended.

Thanks for the tip. I am always in the market for a good bass solo, and Prince's bass solos were always goooooood.

It's most likely run by his estate.

I'd like to record this to keep, but Showtime will probably stick their logo and promos for their programming on the screen.

They didn't say it had never been released on DVD. They said it had been released on DVD.

Whoops - I thought the link was to a Billboard article that claimed it'd never been on DVD period.

That'll teach me not to assume! :hide:

Edited original post so I can deny my stupidity! :D

Damn, I still can't believe it.....who would have thought that by 2017, Prince, Michael Jackson, George Michael and Whitney Houston would all be dead...well before their time....unbelievable. Prince at his best..was just about as good as it gets...a peer of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield etc. at their... nothing really to add.....just wow...as I continue listening to his brilliant legacy...

Maybe this is something for all of you to participate in: Future releases from the estate Survey

I don't remember where I got the link from, probably something on Facebook, but I think it originates from the "org".

Interesting survey. Seems to line up with a lot of issues and ideas people on here have expressed. If this is truly the estate behind this, that's a really good sign that they're listening to what the people want.

77% think the Estate should consult the Org, eh?

    Excuse me while I snicker...
