Oh, yeah. Priest LPs get a lot of love around here.

Love the dual guitar attack of Tipton and Downing.

Got multiple pressings of all their albums but on CD's. Shame on me! Glaring holes in my vinyl collection . On the other hand it feels like discovering JP anew, when listening to them on vinyl. What pressing of BS you recommend?

The only one I ever had was an original US Columbia pressing which is now gone - lost in college. I loved that record. I think the orig UK may be the way to go on this one...

I highly recommend this as your next purchase. My all-time favorite JP album.

And what's considered the best Sad Wings pressing?

I have a Japanese first pressing and it sounds wonderful. I've heard a number of pressings, have a few also, and this is my favourite for SQ.

What's your take on Redeemer Of Souls pressing SQ?

Be careful with Rocka Rolla, because only some pressings have the full 4 min version of the title track.

Thank you, I wonder if my copy of Judas Priest - The Collection has the full version :)

    I don't think so.

The full version has two verses & choruses before the solo instead of one, and a slightly longer fade.

It's not an "original", but my early 80s Columbia Canadian pressing of Stained Class sounds massive. That said, my 80s CBS CD of the same title sounds pretty damn good too, but needs to be cranked for full effect.

For a band as popular as JP was, I don't see their records in the used bins too often anymore, at least not their best albums. Scratched copies of Turbo or whatever are common though.

Yeah, and if you see them they're usually Nice Price series made of third generation tapes.

And not to mention that used Judas Priest LP's have increased in price by about 3 to 4 times the amount since maybe 2006 or so.

Hey guys, is this Back on Black vinyl reissue of Judas Priest - Angel Of Retribution any good? Need some guidance before I pull the triger :D

I dream this sounds great, not a clone of a CD

That's because the professional dealers are picking them up early. A trend that started maybe a year ago. Ironically the two classic albums I'm still seeing frequently are "Unleashed In The East" and "Point Of Entry". A similar situation with Iron Maiden.....

Compared above US opressings with this pressing of Judas Priest - Point Of Entry . US pressing is much better, detailed, open, chiming, while this UK pressing is veiled and muddy to these ears.

This sounds much better than its CD counterpart, you can hear cymbals, voice is clear (to the point its flaws got revealed on Battle Cry), got more dynamics, I guess vinyl is to go format here.

Except for Painkiller. Painkiller was DDD, vinyl is ridiculously expensive (starting at $45+ on Discogs), and the CD sounds great (no loudness wars yet).

Edit: To be clear, I'm referring to the 1990 CD . . .
