That empireonline article looks good. I scrolled down a bit and saw Speaking of the Woodsmen, who are they and what do they want? They just wanted a light... The New Yorker story was really well done. I don't think Lynch has commented publicly since Sunday's episodes.
Instead of the Tin Woodsman it's the smoking woodsman. Interesting reference that could relate to The Wizard of Oz where there was truly no wizard per se. It's well known that Lynch has a strong affection for that film. There are some pretty clear parallels.
Not to mention how many characters in Oz had real life equivalents back in Kansas... I wonder if Twin Peaks is to Odessa as Oz is to Kansas?
I thought the exact same thing once Audrey was reintroduced to the series. It kinda HAS to be, right?
I offer this clue in order to torture you. Remember the last Ep of Season 2, which Lynch re-wrote was called "Beyond Life and Death" Bardo - Wikipedia
Me too. There is that scene where he is dead on the floor and Annie gets up but he does not in the last ep of Season 2. Everything kind of falls into place in my mind if Coop died with Caroline and his soul has been in this bardo limbo lodge deal ever since. But alas we will never know.
Yesterday, I watched the last two episodes in a row. Until then, I only saw Episode 8 and some minutes oft random episodes that didn't do much for me. Nonetheless, I really like Lynch's style. The questions his works put on the table are always fascinating and there are no easy answers apparently
Kyle McLaughlin was just on Today being interviewed and he said, paraphrasing, "It came from the mind of David Lynch and I just know what I did." He was as clueless as the rest of us. They moved quickly onto other topics.
Part 18's credit music is by Angelo. I'm surprised, I thought it was Dean Hurley cause it feels so different from the other stuff Angelo has done.
Rewatched ep. 18. I conclude it added pretty much nothing of value and the show would have need better at 17 episodes. Ok I liked Dougie coming home to his family and the consummation of the relationship between the Blue Velvet protagonists. McLachlan was so joyless in this entire episode that I feel we only really got Agent Cooper for 1.5 episodes of the series, from his awakening mid ep.16 through the end of 17. What McLachlan did with Lee was a bit reminiscent of what Evil C did to his son to the extent that I feel we may have been seeing a post-Bob Evil C in all of ep. 18.
Someone on Reddit pointed out that the motel where Diane/Coop go to bed is likely the same location as the motel where Richard wakes up, but the first scene is 1989 and the second scene is 25 years later.
Lynch is signing the new Twin Peaks soundtrack at Amoeba Records in Hollywood on September 22. A great opportunity to ask "Will Twin Peaks return?" Frost will do one signing for the Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier book (Los Angeles?) in November. Another opportunity.
I have been thoroughly enjoying this thread since it appeared and want to thank all the Forum members for their thoughts and opinions. It's a testament to the Twin Peaks world, and all it's creators and participants that such intelligent lively exchanges and insightful articles have been written, especially since the finale. I don't think I've personally ever given so much thought and attention to another series before, this one's for the ages! I had the privilege of working on the show for a couple of weeks doing graphic design, I hadn't been so excited by a new project in a very long time. The graphics in the casino lobby when Dougie arrived, and the Bushnell "Battling Bud Mullins poster featured in Bushnell's office are my work. The casino location is the Morongo in Palm Springs California, the entire interior entry set up was created for the show. When I was given these assignments I was told nothing of their context or in what episodes they'd appear, even though I was an employee I couldn't be told, it was all very hush hush as the saying goes. Suffice to say I'm delighted with how everything was featured so nicely, quite a relief since so much of what I do on various shows never gets seen, is blurry in the background, or is on screen for just a second. That's the contemporary editing style nowadays! My thanks go out to David Lynch for his liking my contributions, and for the intriguing 18 hour ride he provided, I for one hope there's more to come one day. ....And no, I never got to meet him!
That's great! That poster caught my eye from the beginning of the scene. I read every part of it. Excellent work. Thanks for posting!
Hmm. They probably won't say a word until 2018. Many viewers prefer to wait until a season is complete so they can binge.
For those interested, two soundtracks were released online (and in stores) today featuring music from the series. The first being a collection of original instrumental, soundtrack compositions (mostly by Angelo Badalamenti, and a few others), and the second being a collection of songs, comprising mostly of songs performed at the Roadhouse. Vinyl releases are Sept 22.
