I'm on my way to a three-disc collection of hit songs based on the magic Cuban "montuno" chord progression, featuring of course a lot of Leiber-Stoller, Bert Berns and Neil Diamond. dont hold out much hope of ever preparing it for an actual release, though bitd, Rhino Records made their rep, partly, with a comp made up entirely of versions of "Louie, Louie."

Unrelated, but have you heard of the Langhorns? They're a Swedish band who do great Latin inflected surf instrumental stuff. And while less Latin influenced, the Bambi Molesters do great covers of a bunch of the songs you listed.
May I please have a copy of this? Costello, Jam, Big Star, Zappa and the Church... this child will go far in life!
Try these tracks when you get the chance: Aspiracion Latinia La Ruta del Bacalao Double Decker These are some of the more obvious Latin-sounding tracks; they do quite a bit of straightforward surf stuff but that Latin tinge is almost always there. They frequently bring in horn players and the drummer is well-versed in Latin rhythms. For some of their best "plain surf" stuff, check out "Tierra Del Fuego", "Point Neuf", and "El Nino". They also do a killer cover of Ennio Morricone's "The Vice Of Killing" from the Sergio Leone "Man with No Name" trilogy.

BTW, nothing negative meant by "not trying too hard" -- you may have actually worked hard on it, but you didn't try to be flashy. Restraint can be your friend in graphic design...
No offense taken. I just took a high-ish res photo from the period I wanted (I almost went with the color outtake from The Stranger cover shoot), cropped it and added the graphics. Took me maybe five minutes at the most. I didn't even play with the contrast or anything like that.
