Another favourite of mine which was spinning today on the turntable. From my country The Netherlands.
New Order-Hurt, That metallic is really cool Joost, I've only run into 1 for a single, a blue variant
I don't know, didn't hear/find one yet. Krazy is extended, but also a remix, as it includes an additional bass synth part and drum/percussion parts. Making it sound more aggressive than the original.
Here are some of the extended mixes I've been enjoying recently: Grace Jones - Slave To The Rhythm (Blooded) The Buggles - I Am A Camera (12" Mix) Queen - Scandal (12" Version) The Art of Noise - Peter Gunn (The Twang Mix) I noticed that someone else mentioned the same mix of Slave To The Rhythm... What a phenomenal track!
I have all the Queen 12 inch versions. My avatar says it all really. I even have the first official extended version which is Staying Power remixed by John Luongo. This version is only available on the US promo vinyl single from 1982. I have the cd single of Scandal which features this powerfull remix and a lovely non album b-side.
Since I recenyly got back into collecting vinyl again, I find the 12" singles more interesting than the albums. Darryl
I know that feeling. I have not many albums on vinyl but hundreds of 12 inch singles with all them special versions on. Many of them never released on CD.
It like an addiction these. It's hard to stay away from the local record shops to buy a few 12 inch beauties. I'm glad the prices are still low for these babies.
Recently went to a local record show & the only 12 inch singles that I was interested in that had higher prices (US$15-25) were the Queen ones. Darryl
So here's a bit of a funny story. I did not find out until recently that there are two different 12" mixes for Irene Cara's "Breakdance". The song reached #8 on the Billboard Top 40 in 1984. The "Extended Remix" version on the U.S. 12" single appeared as a bonus track on the 1997 remaster of the What A Feeling album released in Canada. That mix seems to be the one used in most countries.
On Discogs I saw a Dutch 12" single with a "Long Version" running six minutes, also released in Spain. I knew I had a vinyl copy of the song but assumed it was the U.S. release. To my surprise, I have the Dutch 12" single! So here is my needledrop of the "Long Version".
It wasn't a big hit, here. Can't remember ever hearing it. Funny, the bass synth sounds like Queen's Invisible Man.
One that hasn't been listed. Trying to finish up my Toni Halliday singles set- Love Attraction (Sub Culture Mix), 1988
