Does anyone know if this is going to be released in a stand alone form.
Lodger is my favorite bowie album and i would love to hear the remix.
The November Mojo reviews it in the record review section which makes me believe it will be.

I think maybe you're reading too much into the Mojo announcement. They could as easily be reviewing the whole set and, if not, this looks like an attempt to put the era into a fresh perspective, so why not review the mix as a mix as opposed to a new release?

'Lodger' has always been one of my favorite albums, period. Although the New Career box set looks intriguing, I'm not sure if the Tony Visconti remix would worth $70.

If it helps, if you were in the UK the CD set would cost you close to $200 tomorrow in store or online.

Have pity on us in the UK, and go for it while it's $70 :)

there is an article on bowie's berlin era.but they also review lodger in the filter section as if it is a stand alone release.

Check eBay when the boxes are out, people normally break some up.

You could always sell the bits you don't want at some point and you'll probably make a profit or break even and get to keep your Lodger for nothing !

Am listening to Visconti's remixed Lodger as I type. Up to Yassassin so far, it sounds great.

The LODGER remix in the box just kicks butt. Vastly superior to the original in my opinion. And what a great album. Love this period of Bowie’s work.

I don't think it's superior to the original, but it's certainly an excellent alternate mix that gives a different perspective on the album.

I can respect that view. I just never liked the sound of the original - muddy and distant. I guess maybe that was the intention but I think a somewhat punchier sound benefits the music. Now it has something of the bite of SCARY MONSTERS and the continuity with that work seems clearer. All just my opinion of course.

  20. You could sell the individual discs to make it for the difference but $70 ain't bad. I ended up getting this for $40 buys with some gift cards and that made it worth it for me.

I think it sounds pretty good. Move On is the only remixed track Im so-so on.

I just nabbed the vinyl from eBay. Dont need the whole box. Should have grabbed Gouster back when I had the chance.

Got the whole set too, the Lodger sounds so fresh to the ears with the new mix. I love it. Belew's solo on Boys Keep Swinging is more amazing. "Top of the Cherry" and the lyrics say :)

The reasons you state for liking it are exactly the same as mine, it's just that I've been listening to the original since it came out. I will be spending time listening to it for sure. Now if only it would get a stand alone release so I don't have to listen on my headphones through Spotify.

I noticed the new mix is available on iTunes if you can live with lossy.

Perhaps one of the other digital retailers has it in lossless.
