Sorry, but I don't have time to read all of the pages. Only got to page 5. Has anybody mentioned Concrete Blonde yet?

Here's one that is truly practically forgotten now. "Nice Girls" by Eye to Eye (1982). This smooth track was produced by Gary Katz and features well known session players.

MTV played that constantly in it’s infancy. Also “They’re All Twisted” by Kraut. Never heard either one on the radio but MTV seared both tracks into my brain

Was going to post this one... seems to be the definitive forgotten gem. I got (and still have) the 45, and thought this was a *lock* for the top 10. It's like Glenn Tillbrook dropped by the XTC Skylarking sessions and cut a track!

I only remember seeing this only a couple of times on MTV.
    I'm sure you're right, though.
I heard it maybe only once on college radio and thought it was Peter Gabriel.
It sounded like it belongs on Peter Gabriel 3 (melt) album.
At least I thought so back then.

More like Todd Rundgren's fingerprints all over the place.

One of only two albums on the Apache label, started by Matthew "King" Kaufman after he closed Beserkley Records

Apologies if this one's already been posted. Maybe not quite a "gem", but pretty good and definitely forgotten.

Yep...you nailed it. Also, in 1982 the need to promote via music video wasn't as pronounced as in 1984.

Does this count? I still hear it all of the time on the classic rock station, but they NEVER tell you who did it. Why won't the world ever give Donnie Iris some respect?

...which is why I evoked Skylarking, as its a Rundgren production.

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

After decades of trying to find who did the song, I finally found out a few months ago. Then, it turns out that I had it in my collection all those years on a Rhino comp CD I apparently never played all the way through.

Hard to admit now, but there was a brief time in my life when Junior and Linx were where it was at, musically speaking. 'Mama Used To Say'! 'You're Lying'! 'Intuition'!

    How embarrassing.
