    Fripp is the man, but he only plays on, what...5 songs?

    Vote goes to the one and only Mick Ronson, who elevated Bowie's material and helped launch him into the stratosphere.

    I love Bowie's own playing on "Diamond Dogs"- texture over technique, and it's exquisite.

    Earl Skick's out of tune lead on "Stay" ALMOST ruins it for me, so I can't quite forgive him for that. He's pretty tasteless overall.

    I've read comparisons with Jeff Beck, but I much prefer Mick Ronson not just lead guitar wow factor, but arrangement skills as well. Let's not forget his stage skill prowess.

    Fripp (or Robert Fripp as he's commonly known). No question - his work on Scary Monsters is jaw-dropping. The great Ronno is a very close second, with Belew somewhat further behind in third place.

    Ronno is one of the unsung heroes of the rock era and was vital to Bowie’s success in so many ways. One of fortune’s good turns that they found each other.

    Well, Mick certainly is sweeping the poll, which I'm not too surprised by.

    I actually came into loving Mick by his solo LP's first, Play Don't Worry and Slaughter On Tenth Avenue, then I realized his Bowie connection.

    The obvious answer is Mick Ronson, but shouldn't Carlos Alomar be mentioned somewhere? He was among Bowie's most important collaborators, from the mid-70s way into the 2000s.
