Here is a Symphonie fantastique more to my liking, with much better sound than the 80s Muti/Philadelphia recording I posted recently. Symphonie recorded 11/28/59, Cass Technical High School, Detroit. Others recorded 3/24/58, Old Orchestra Hall, Detroit. Recording Director: Wilma Cozart. Musical Supervisor: Harold Lawrence. Engineer: C. Robert Fine. 1993 CD transfer supervised by Wilma Cozart Fine.
Until you mentioned it, I had not thought about little one hears the name Géza Anda today. Back in the day, if you went into a record shop that carried Deutsche Grammophon, they had something with Géza Anda.
Now streaming on Spotify, "Le Jeune: Missa Ad Placitum, Magnificat" performed by Ensemble Clement Janequin led by Dominique Visse on Harmonia Mundi.
Well, I learn today that Naive have pushed the release date for this recording back another 2 weeks to Oct. 27th.
Warsaw born Szeryng is revered here in Poland........... naturally (he was also a Mexican citizen - did you know ? ).
J. S. Bach...?: Violin Sonata in C minor, BWV 1024; Flute Sonata in G major, BWV 1038 a collection of works of doubtful attribution to Bach or by others (S.L. Weiss) but transcribed by Bach
CD from the first Living Stereo box. Includes Smetana: The Bartered Bride Overture and Jaromír Weinberger: Schwanda: Polka & Fugue.
Of course! I am Mexican so I know. Had the fortune to see him perform in the Palacio de Bellas Artes.
We had a bit of 'car talk' a few weeks back, with the whole Inspector Morse thing and that nice (although red) Jaguar he drove (it needed to be British Racing Green to be perfect in my opinion). Another famous car that appears in movies or shows and that I love is Aston Martin. If I were very wealthy or won the lottery ( I should start playing)....that's certainly one I would love to own - just like this one and the house in the back included. As for something a little less extravagant and a bit more affordable it would be this BMW series 4 coupe. I also like the VW Passat very much, drove it in Europe when on vacation there.....very comfortable and fuel efficient. How about you?
My understanding is folks who are well off (by Mexican standard) get to live in palatial home with servants and maids, what not to like? I read about Henryk Szeryng lived in Mexico in the latter part of his life.
BMW series 4 coupe? Did you mean series 3 coupe? There is no BMW model number that starts with a 4 in the US ... I prefer BMW X series as they are all built in the US. My Honda was built in Canada.
