What's the Blu Ray ( 4K) version like?
The DVD image is dark, grainy.

  6. But with the music, that scene is transcendent. One of the most effective uses of music in a film I've seen

Maybe not his best but certainly among my favorites. The surprise of him being a preacher then Megan's love for him are really appealing. Carrie Snodgrass as Sarah gave a wonderful performance. And since Bang the Drum Slowly Michael Moriarty has been a sympathetic character. I know I don't know his recent work. Hull, Preacher, Megan, Sarah? I watch this one again and again!

    The Outlaw Josey Wales.

I'm surprised that For A Few Dollars More is rated so low. That would have been my second pick, followed by Pale Rider.

Unforgiven for me. As good as Clint is, Gene Hackman takes it to another level.

Regarding the movie I voted for (Unforgiven)--The last words that Will Munny utters says it all after seeing his partner Ned Logan propped upright in a crate dead on his feet. And speaking of dead, six men in the bar-kerblooey!

"You better not cut up or harm any whores. Or I'll come back and kill every one of you sons a bi*ch*s."

Unforgiven is not only Clint's best western, it is 'the' best western. Bronco Billy and Paint You Wagon show just how versatile an actor Clint is.

    Best acting( facial grimaces)
    The Unforgiven.
    Best Clint directed western: OJW.
Best western The Good The Bad and The Ugly( at least most iconic).

We only get one vote, and those of us that like the Leone westerns best will naturally favor GBU. But all three are great.

Joe Kidd was a real potboilin' missed opportunity. Who thought that John Sturges and Clint Eastwood could make a boring movie?

I actually think "The Gauntlet' is a western.
