They look very nice but for me it would be collecting for collecting sake. Unless new material (unlikely) or improved sound quality I’m probably out.
Thanks for posting I’m sure there will be many that are tempted.

Agree with you, these are colllector’s items but nevertheless as with all Japanese mini Lp replicas, quality packaging is mostly guaranteed.

As usual, Relics was left aside, probably for future release.

I'm a bit surprised they didn't do SHM-CD or Platinum SHM-CD for all of these.

Since there doesn't seem to be anything new here - only packaging and an OBI - I'll pass.

I ordered them. The last round I got didn't have the fantastic packaging. Today the first lot ship (Dark Side. Meddle. Obscured by Clouds etc)

Same here. My last PF CD purchase was the 1992 masters.

The 1992 I bought at the time were not Japanese but came in a jewel box with extras graphics in the booklet. Remastered by Doug Sax IIRC.

The one released this month are Japanese.

...and what's with Amazon UK charging twice as much as CDJapan?

Just saw that: 40£ a pop on Amz UK or $47 CAD on Amz Canada. In both cases, very expensive compared to cdjapan.

These new Japan mini cds will no doubt be very nice. Sound will be as per 2011 cds I guess- packaging will of course be exemplary. I like these mini versions - I know you don't need them but as a fan they are fun and well done albeit expensive. Yes I would much prefer high resolution or sacd/bluray in a cheap plastic case but that is unlikely at this time.

I'm getting them. The 2011 packaging was terrible! Now great sound with top notch packaging I can't help myself. $21 USD at CDJapan what a deal.

  14. Anybody want to chime in on the packaging???

  15. They likely aren't authorized to release them on SACD. Pink Floyd and their management is one of those acts with de facto complete control over their catalog.

Received the first batch last week. Japanese reissues are up to their usual standard. Each mini LP replica includes:

-English language booklet contains photos, lyrics and credits. I assume that it is the same as the 2011 version.

-Japanese language black and white booklet.

-CD coming is a rice paper type protective sleeve.

-White paper inner sleeve. You might chose to put the rice
paper sleeve package within this one or not. Comes as black for DSOTM.

-Promo sheet of the 2017 mini LP reissue

-Extra backcover sheet printed with barcode. Actual cover not having a barcode. All mentionned PF Records.

-Nice album covers printed on quality cardboard. Cover inside is actually white. Not brown kraft cardboard à la Zeppelin recent reissue. Boy that looks very cheap!

    -Orignal release OBI.

-All housed in a mini LP protective polysleeve.

    -Japanese promo sticker on polysleeve.

    Now the goodies:

-PATGOD, ASOS and More come with original foldover cover. Some were complaining about the recent vinyl fake draw line imitating the 60’s technology.

-OBC has rounded corners cover. Extra ’La Vallée’ pink sticker on polysleeve.

-Meddle cover is textured as the latest vinyl release.

-DSOTM includes all the extra you will find in a vinyl set in miniature size plus a full size replica of the vinyl side A/B label, the eclipsed moon sticker usually coming on the cover has been printed full size and included in the DSOTM memorabilia kit.

That’s it! Second batch left this morning from Japan.

In my opinion, Saucerful of Secrets and Animals. I don't dislike any of them, anyway.

  19. Animals. It's widely considered the album's definitive mastering now. The 2011 Pink Floyd remasters might be the strongest remastering campaign any major act has received at once. There really isn't a dud in the bunch.

I listened to More last night. Superb, good soundstage, not a bit of
this digital harshness often found in remastered projects.

Miniature sized versions of the posters, that is too cool!

    THank you.
I was thinking about ordering “wish you were here “. I only have this cd in unremastered version (cd made in Japan...). Does the 2011 version of this album consider to be an improvement?

Brian Eno too: all the CD remasters by Simon Heyworth released in 2004 and which are still in print. Three cheers for great and affordable remasters :righton:
