Enjoy from this Marvelous Marty Robbins Box :)

Marty Robbins was amazing artist, I love his vocals , his music and the stories he tells in his songs.
among my favorites: Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs , more Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs, Hawaii's Calling Me.

Marty robbins had beautiful stunning voice , magnificent music, amazing atmosphere and brilliant lyrics , I just love the fantastic backing vocals in his songs.

Doesn't matter how far you are or in which Era you live , Marty robbins has the ability to take you to the events which the songs talk about , you really feel that you are in a western , experience all the events which the lyrics talk about , This is the power of Marty Robbins.

I can listen to this beautiful song over and over again , the music , the beautiful vocals and the Amazing lyrics create a legendary masterpiece.

This is another one of my favorites- a song from 1969
marty robbins - you gave me a mountain
beautiful and dark song ( the lyrics and the music) ,there is so much emotion in Marty Robbins vocals,
this song could be as a soundtrack.

The Thunder Road 1 cd soundtrack was cancelled because of a photograph, if I remember correctly. I'd rip the page out and let it roll. I think it was completely done and almost released when the problem happened. That was one I really wanted. Maybe someday.

What a neat article! This sheds light on the questions several forum members were discussing from a few years ago. The connection with Frankie Miller makes sense, as he was a major part of the scene.

Considering the association he had with Lefty Frizzell, I'd also be curious to know if Aubrey Freeman knew Balthrop. One of us needs to get in touch with Aubrey and conduct an interview. Even better, Bear Family could interview Aubrey for the reissue of the Lefty Frizzell box set.

Definitely. I've seen his name on various credits and since there isn't a great deal of available information on Jim, the sessions he played on tell an interesting story. The impressive list of sessions Jim played on include Wynn Stewart, Dolly Parton, Charley Pride, Crystal Gayle, Narvel Felts, Kenny Rogers, Don Williams, Doc Watson, Barefoot Jerry and Waylon Jennings.

Definitely. If it were feasible, I wouldn't have minded if they divided the Patsy Cline box set into 2 different releases. Consider how the second Bob Luman box set containing his earlier material wasn't released until several years after the first one which contained his later material.

Wonder if Fats Domino's passing will prompt Bear Family to put his box set back in print. It's undoubtedly the greatest testament to his legacy. Listening to one of the discs now, I notice that the set is oddly sequenced-- For instance, a 1962 twist song immediately precedes "Blueberry Hill" from 1956. Not that it matters terribly.

Edit: Upon looking at the sessionography, I found out that twist record was actually a 1956 song which was unreleased until '62 when "Twist" was added to its title to make it seem new.

I doubt if they'd think it's worth it since everything in the box is public domain now and most of it is available from every pd company in Europe.

Sadly you're right, even if those PD labels only reissue the hits.
