Yeah, that is one gift that needs to be confirmed in advance. The normal rules do not apply.

There has to be ONE 90's DaP. DiP & RT had all 4 decades.

There is also that little detail of the cost of the 24-track mixdowns to be factored in!

I dont think so, not Dave's approach with the series.
    69-78 is the main years.
Things might change but don't count on it

Sure. But I'm fairly certain that the price in combination with the selected shows is why it has not sold out. I hope they take notice

But still, Brent plus multitracks from the beloved 89-90 years. I thought it would do much better since people on deadnet are screaming about Brent shows all the time...

Yes and he should stick with this approach. It's a good plan.

yea I agree! make the box sets and standalone releases going forward outside the DaP window(i.e.: 85 or 87 would be good choices) and keep the subscription to the formula and we will all be happy!

Lets be honest, tho , RFK 89 was far from an ideal choice. Its a very random selection

How about a Europe 1990 box set

Yes, i agree this does seem to be a relatively unexciting selection - Alpine Valley, for example, would likely be better received - but i was really commenting on the additional costs involved in creating a fresh 24-track mix vs prepping a soundboard for release.

In order to facilitate some of the longer 73-74 releases, they should reconsider the 3 disc only limitation. Raise prices by $10 with the promise that at least one show will be 4 discs.

Or for some years, promise that there will be two shows on four discs.

Exactly. There is no reason for a show to be edited down or taken out of contention just because it won’t fit on 3 discs.

Honestly, I think more shows need to be released outside the subscription format. I like it when subscription shows are not really well known shows (like DaP 24 for ex). There’s no reason that Eugene ‘78 should have been limited the same way there’s no need for Kezar or RFK ‘73 or 8/24/72 to be limited.

Could have the big box around May, a single show release in August and then a mini box like RFK in November.

This year we had 2 compilation releases in the summer so hopefully in 2018 we can have a live release instead.

I agree that high profile shows that are well known to more casual fans (Eugene '78) should be wide releases. Kezar 73, Swing Aud '77 should also be non-subscription. RFK 73 needs to be its own box with the ABB sets.
8/24/72 is questionable, in my opinion. It could have been the stand-alone show from a BCT box, but I now think it will show up as a Dave's Picks in the mid to late 30's.

well they have 1 release a year that the preorder is 4 cd's so they could make that a longer release

So far they’ve never put material from the main show on the bonus disc and if the philosophy is that main release contains a full show, they never will.

Skipped the 2017 subscription for financial reasons. :ignore:
First time I’d passed on any official release since Road Trips 1.4...

I was sampling a few late August-early September shows from 1980. Garica sounded great, band did too
    .
If only Norman can push Lesh's bass up(we know he can...), I'm up for a Brent pick next year

I dont know why 1980 is so oft maligned. Daves 8 is fantastic. They had such a thick sound in rhis period. Late ‘79 til Early ‘81.
