It only improves picture quality and makes it eye candy.

    I can see it now.

Man in high story building shoots into crowded party below. Several killed and injured. Killer found dead in building among masses of guns.

He's gone way up from here he was. Sadly, I keep an eye on these things.

Eh, the camera adds 15 pounds. He just doesn't look healthy to me -- and I worked on Boston Legal off and on for 4 years.

And just to bring this thread up to date... some "shocking developments" with the show this week. Here's the inside info from the executive producers and showrunners. [Major spoilers -- do not read until you watch this week's pivotal episode.]

'The Blacklist' Parts Ways With an Original Series Star

I like the show but don't love it, and I think a lot of it has been padded to the point where it's a bit boring and silly. But they really did something major this time, no punches pulled.

  10. Not surprised actually. This will open up the show to new possibilities and the plot points for ....were increasingly getting silly even by the standards of the show. I enjoy it but it crossed the line to silliness a long time ago.

Moral of the story: don't do a spinoff unless you have NCIS in the name.

I gotta say, my jaw dropped when the on-screen graphic said, "10 months later." WTF?

You can see they telegraphed the severity of <major character>'s injuries, so it made sense that this person would be critically injured.

Yeah, I think this was a classic case where the producers & writers ran out of stuff to do with a regular cast member, so the easiest solution was just to kill the character off in a spectacular way. As far as I'm concerned, they could kill anybody off except for James Spader and the show could still work. And I'll bet ya dollars to donuts that Spader will die in the final episode, when we finally find out the terrible secret about the bones.

BTW, the clumsy writing in this episode drove me crazy. Several times, you had Character X and Character Y together, where Character X knew a Huge Secret but called Y and said, "hey, I just learned a Huge Secret, but I can only tell you on person, and not on the phone, because if I tell you on the phone we'll have to end the series." :sigh:

Very clunky and contrived. Just say, "HEY! The mystery is XYZ! That means we know ABC!" The art of withholding information from the audience in a crime show is a very delicate balance, and they tend to use a sledgehammer in this show.

That sort of thing drove me crazy way back when I was watching Smallville. It seemed to be the core of every character interaction! Can't believe you guys are still watching this show.

  17. The whole episode was clumsy in its execution. This isn't the same sleek, taut suspense thriller the show was in season one. I still enjoy it but you have to check your brain at the door while watching.

Sadly, that is true. However... I gotta say, the last five minutes did surprise the hell outta me and I did not see the ending coming.

I just want to watch Reddington and Dembe go on adventure after adventure with no fear of either one dying despite the perils they face.

Despite its many shortcomings - it remains interesting - in the vast wasteland, with so very little to watch
