First song recorded with two songs at once, one per channel: "The Murder Mystery" by the Velvet Underground. Discovered this when I had the idea to play a piano song in one channel and a guitar song in the other (same chords & tempo, etc.)

First studio album recorded live on stage in front of an audience who were told not to applaud: Second Wind (I think) by Todd Rundgren. Also probably the last.

Maybe this was already mentioned and may even be common knowledge, but first time "heavy metal" was mentioned in any capacity was in the song "Born to be Wild" by Steppenwolf in 1969, possibly in reference to a motorcycle.

    You mean 7 ;)

I would go as far as saying he changed rock drumming. You just have to listen to drummers before him and than after.

was I Feel Fine the first guitar feedback on record? I thought it was The Rock and Roll Trio - Johnny Burnette - with The Train Kept A-Rollin'.

I knew people would get the obvious stuff out of the way first ("first band to be named the Beatles: the Beatles") so I thought I'd go for the more obscure stuff.

I guess "Murder Mystery" is barely even one song, let alone two. But whatever. I thought I had an original idea, but Lou got to it first.

I always like to say, "If it exists, Lou Reed invented it. If Lou Reed didn't invent it, Todd Rundgren did. If Todd Rundgren didn't, you must not have been paying attention when you looked at the list of things Lou Reed invented." (For the record, Lou Reed also invented Todd Rundgren.)

I was re-checking that tune. It contains distorted guitar sounds but no amp feedback. Btw, another early recording with guitar distortion is 'Rocket 88' by Ike Turner's Kings Of Rhythm.
