2018 – Pre-orders, rumours, hopes dream and aspirations

So the music magazines have all done their “best of 2017” lists, and to be honest, unless the announcement has already been made, I suspect we already know what’s coming out (or not) in the remainder of 2017

So……onto 2018 then……I’m curious what folks are expecting in 2018.

Pre-orders already placed, rumours, hopes dreams and aspirations …..stick them all on…..maybe you’ve heard something other don’t know about.

    Pre-orders

So far for 2018 I’ve pre ordered the following for January/February

Swarbrick & Wilson – Kailyard Tales (12th January)

Whitesnake – The Purple Tour (19th January)

    Starcrawler – Starcrawler (19th January)

    W.A.S.P – The Crimson Idol – Re-idolised (2nd February)

    Rumours

Jethro Tull have already mentioned that there will be a bunch of releases for their 50th Anniversary. Heavy Horses and This Was deluxe sets look hopeful. Thick as a Brick deluxe re-issue is currently only in my dreams, but other items have yet to be announced.

Richard Thompson, Fish, Whitesnake, Stone Temple Pilots and Myles Kennedy have all but confirmed they will be releasing new albums next year

Roxy Music – first album box set?????

    Hopes Dreams and Aspirations

    Tom Petty Wildflowers box set

New Pistols Annie album….the girls appear to be on talking terms again and have been photographed together…

Whitesnake - Slide It In box set (Similar to this year’s 1987 set – then Slip of the Tongue for 2019)

Sky Ferriera – Follow up to Night Time My Time would be ace.

Phil Collins – he’s mentioned he’s been tinkering with (new) songs ….but will he release it?

Fairport Convention – there was always 2 things you could expect with decent regularity……A new Motorhead album and a new Fairport album…….so here’s hoping for Fairport………however

Lemmy – there has been talk of a Lemmy solo album for years and Jim Voxx from Skew Siskin has been working on it……2018 be the year??

  3. Based on the surprising and very nice first track, I'm excited about the new Toto release (especially the new songs from it).

Also looking forward to the new John Cowan/Keith Howland/Bill Toth cd "Button."

Finally, there should be a power pop album from Swedish great David Myhr this coming year. Loved his last one.

Don't want to be a fun sponge but think the new track might just be for a new compilation coming out in February to commemorate their 40th anniversary.

Toto- 40 Trips Around the Sun

Great new track though and 2 other new ones on it as well.

I think it was on his facebook page there was a picture of him back in the studio.....his releases usually follow quite regularly.

Acoustic albums aside....next year will be 3 years since an album of full new material.....thats quite a gap for RT.

:righton: And for anything live to be either very early (1968 tapes, do they really exist?!) or late (1975-80)

  14. There are four new tracks in all. At least one has old Jeff Porcaro/Mike Porcaro rhythm tracks. Based on the success of Steve Porcaro re-working one of these for his solo album, I'm excited about that one, too. They did some excellent work on their last studio album as well (but it wasn't mastered very well).

More Grateful Dead to destroy my wallet. Please!

A Spiritualized album is long overdue.

Something archival from Queen that doesn't piss me off would be nice.
