I haven't read in depth, but is 'Capitol City' on the Being There reissue the same song they recorded for The Whole Love?

That'll be fun, hearing an almost entirely different line-up attempting the same track.

I ordered the color vinyl editions. They bundle both for a slight discount.

I'm not the biggest fan of this album but I respect it and I think I also respect the set they've put together here, so I think I might give it go.

The CD version is on amazon.ca for less than forty bucks. That seems like a very fair price to me.

Oddly I don't see the reissue of the first album listed yet.

Just reintroduced myself to Wilco by way of Alpha Mike Foxtrot which was a no-brainer acquisition in a recent Deep Discount sale at about $13.00. Somewhere around here I have Being There and have had it for years but never really gave it a chance. Looking forward to the reissues for a chance to dive into Wilco once again.

What, and pass up the opportunity to release it on double coloured vinyl for big bucks at Record Store Day 2018!

I'm a Wilco completist and a giant sucker for colored vinyl. Bought both. Happy early birthday to me.

When you go to the bundle;e page it lets you pick black or colored vinyl.

Bullmoose has AM for $9.97 and Being There for $27.97.
Free shipping. And unlike Amazon, their free shipping is fast.

Does anyone know if the colored vinyl is also 180g? It doesn't specify on their site.

Over the years I collected :

    AM - US red vinyl
    AM - VMP Orange Vinyl
    AM - 180g re-issue

    Being There - Original Vinyl
    Being There - 180g re-issue

    I'm wondering if I really need these re-issues !

    $25 at Amazon

  17. It's even cheaper at Target.com if you have a Red Card.

I pulled the trigger on the CD from Amazon, shame there is no Autorip. No problem, as I'll rip in lossless on Friday.

I always dug this record. I always identify with Tweedy's lyrics. It was a very busy year back in the Fall of '96. I was overworked, depressed, sad getting over a girl at the time. The album was my soundtrack. I can't wait to hear the outtakes.

Has anyone listened to the new HDTracks versions? Any comments, especially in regards to how they compare to the previous HDTracks version?

I'd be very interested to hear how they compare to the existing CDs. All I've been able to do to date is to listen to 30 second samples on Tidal. Based on this I
prefer the originals but it's hardly an ideal way of making a comparison. The DR figures for AM don't look good Album list - Dynamic Range Database .

Gotta say, DR ratings strike me as voodoo. Also, a band like Wilco gets plenty loud, and plenty crunchy. So, yes, it will be compressed. But either you dig, or you don't. That's a judgement that you can only make by listening to the set. I personally love it, especially the live set on CDs 4 and 5.
