I heard this killer funk tune I had never heard before and thought I would start a thread where you can post cool but obscure funk tunes and hopefully discover something interesting!

    Here is my starting tune...

Leroy & The Drivers - The Sad Chicken

  4. Please correct me if I'm wrong: I think that the only people for whom this is NOT obscure are bass players. The Reddings - The Awakening.

The Honey Drippers- Impeach The President

I won't go into the politics, but if reissued, it would probably sell a bunch in the USA

70s Colombia. Groovy bass, horns, analog synths, percussion, pseudo-African chanting... what more do you need?

This was the only commercially released single by the second Mahavishnu Orchestra, 'Can't Your Funk' (in 7/8 time, I believe):

Good pick! I raise you Mahavishnu Orchestra - Planetary Citizen as sampled by Massive Attack for Unfinished Sympathy.

I'm not that knowledgeable about Funk, so not sure if this is obscure General Caine - Get Down Attack, it looks like you have to go to YouTube to hear this gem

Reminds me of another 70s jazzrock outfit that could funk with the best:

I concede - you've outfunked me! MO bass player Ralphe Armstrong (the writer of Planetary C) put his kids through college on the proceeds of legal redress around the sampled use of his track in at least three hits.
