Most musically important songs by year, 1967+ (and a specific Hendrix query)

I'm making a list of this ilk, and I'm stuck on 1967. One of my first thoughts was "oh I'll go with a Hendrix song", and sure, some of his material was among the earliest uses of wah-wah (of course Burning Of The Midnight Lamp was '68), but I can't think of any guitar-based tricks you can say 'Hendrix definitely used this first on one of his songs'. Any solutions to this quandary, and/or other definite firsts done in '67 and onwards will be welcome.

The backwards rhythm and guitar solo in Are You Experienced sounds very original to me for 1967. I know people are going to mention Rain by The Beatles coming before it, but the backwards tape is used only at the end of that and only on a bit of the vocal. Hendrix used it throughout the song, alternating between backwards and forwards. He manipulates the tape to get new guitar sounds.

 

Agreed, it's a much more extensive and advanced conception than on Rain.

 

"Star Collector." The first time a synthesizer was used by a major act to play actual notes instead of just sound effects:

 

A Day In The Life. No pop group used an orchestra like THAT before.

 

To be fair, I've just remembered there's a backwards guitar solo in I'm Only Sleeping from Revolver. But Hendrix is again more advanced.

The single was released a long time before the album. Sounds like a slightly different mix too, like they did more work on it for the album. But of course, the 45 was mono only and the LP was stereo only.
