I like your choices except for the Red Krayola. I don't have the patience for them.

This one is more psychedelic. A great Austin LP by Roky Erickson's high school pal George Kinney:

That's kind of a bad trip album but an absolute classic. :yikes:

Forever Changes provides both good and bad vibes (just like an actual acid experience). That confuses many current listeners, but makes
it an enduring psychedelic milestone for those who listen with their 'third eye open'. If you want an example of a true bummer/death trip album,
might I suggest the first Mad River LP on Capitol. There's no "Good Humor Man" on that one...

Picking just one album is a tough choice. Picking five albums from each year you mentioned would be a tough choice! My immediate gut reaction when I read the question was Jefferson Airplane's Crown of Creation from 1968. It's just so heavy, and at times even scary, and it's probably my single favorite psychedelic album. "Once you share a little joke with the world, the world around you never catches up with you!" That line really blew my mind the first time I heard it, in the circumstances I was in at the time it seemed really intimidating and frighteningly true. All the songs on this album are great.

Ha Ha. Do you think the father knew? What did he say? or did he just run away?

In my top 10: Behold and See by Ultimate Spinach. Dripping with psychedelic vibes. I once counted; the word 'mind' is mentioned 42 times on the original album!

    Someone said this wasn't psychedelic?

    If not what is it?

Jefferson Airplane "Crown Of Creation." Just incredible top to bottom. "Share A Little Joke" is the most perfect psychedelic song ever recorded. Lather, Star Track, et al round out JA's strongest record.

Does Hendrix Electric Ladyland count? That seems psychadelic to me, especially Merman. I dont really know where this genre starts and ends.

When I selected 'After Bathing at Baxters', I did not mean to diminish 'Crown of Creation', as really both albums are essential to me after having discovered JA's Music 2 years ago, since hearing 'White Rabbit' in the past, and wanted to find more of those types of Songs by JA(although like most of 'Surrealistic Pillow', it is not as Psychedelic-Rock all the way through like 'Baxters' & 'Creation'(IMO).

I go for After Bathing At Baxter's as well over Crown and Pillow. The guitar work is better on ABAB and the psychedelia is thicker though of everything my favorite ever JefAir track is "The House At Pooneil Corners" which is on Crown.

My first two faves have been mentioned (Electric Music and Forever Changes), but my next pick would be The 5,000 Spirits Or The Layers of the Onion by The Incredible String Band.

Another classic "bad trip" album is Cauldron by Fifty-Foot Hose. The title track is not for the faint of heart:
