I'll be up for the unreleased studio material (although one wonders why it wasn't on Sunshine Tomorrow...) but the live stuff - meh

It will be rather upsetting if this is digital only AND unavailable in my location.

Mark addressed on SS that this will be available in the U.K. Too, and they're working on getting last year's release here too.

    Thanks.

I hope the extends to Australia (and everywhere else) but I suspect it won’t. HDTracks, for example, does not sell to Australian IP addresses. It will have to pop up on the official site (they don’t sell from there, do they?), on ZDigital or something like that.

It's worth noting for the record that all of these Beach Boys digital releases (or copyright extension collections, as they're being called) of late have been fantastic -- and a great way to get a ton of material into collector's hands. The more "commercial" ones (Party! and Sunshine Tomorrow) of course had CD counterparts -- so, I'm surprised that a Sunshine Tomorrow, Vol 2 collection (is that the official title?) won't be getting a physical release. But then again, I'm surprised there is a Sunshine Tomorrow, Vol 2. Hope this is true!!!

Surfin the web and reading the original Sunshine Tomorrow review on Pitch Fork. Love this first paragraph! Such a great way to put it.

Not sure what live stuff is planned exactly, but the live band from this period becomes essential to understanding who the Beach Boys were during this period. As quoted in the Pitch Fork review excerpt above.

These concerts are most likely the ones included:

    August 25, 1967 Honolulu
    August 26, 1967 Honolulu
    November 17, 1967 Detroit, MI
    November 19, 1967 Washington DC

Mike delivers some great banter at these shows.

I'm scared at the potential price of this on Lossless sites, but Sunshine 2 should be fine.

I agree. In fact with Brian and the Beach Boys, some of the best music might not have even been recorded at all. I'm thinking of Brian working out his "feels" on the piano. Thankfully some of it was recorded.

His piano demos of the Love You material being probably the best-known example. There's something so profound and beautiful in his playing. Those dense piano chords and their tricky notes that always get buried in the production. Or the unique phrasing of a lyric, that once rehearsed, and given to another band member on the final recording -- all the special meaning gets lost.

One piano demo I must hear is him and Van Dyke doing Sail On, Sailor. According to an excerpt in Steven Gaines book, "Heroes And Villains," it apparently blows the released version away. And I totally, 100% believe it.

I attended the Detroit show in 67 and the lovester was his usual PITA self by not shutting the **** up between songs with junk that nobody gave a crap about. We were young and wanted to just hear the music but no, he was dead set at honing one of his offputting skills as a boring, cheesy front man that the group and the fans embarrassingly had to endure. :blah:

Less excited about ST2 seeing as how most of it is simply backing tracks or a cappella. Tune L and Good News are the dangling carrots.

The live set looks great. Hawaii rehearsals included.

Stereo last verse of "How She Boogaloooed It". We can roll our own!

"Whistle In" (All Day All Night) rehearsal sounds intriguing.

Interesting how there is no rehearsal for Hawthorne Blvd.

And what's stereo single mix of Aren't You Glad? A 67 stereo mix?
