Got Columbia and CBS 1990's pressings (1990), and 2001 abomination too for bonuses.

Have you listened to Back On Black's Panikiller LP's?

I have japanese presses of Sad wings and Stained class... high quality thick vinyl and they are fuller, more alive and have more sizzle than my other Aussie originals... painkiller 1990 cd cost me $5... UK first press vinyl was $70... i still prefer the vinyl despite the fact its digitally recorded it just seems more life like... oddly i have a UK first of screaming that sounds the same as an original New Zealand pressing... ill have to check deadwax info there

The 2010 Back On Black Painkiller must be good, it's even more crazy expensive than the original vinyl. Still likin' the CD . . . :agree:

I preordered Painkiller, but I have nice versions of everything else. It looks like the “six” have been released in the UK, and will be released in the US Dec. 1st. It’d be nice to have some details on these, but I haven’t found any yet.

I saw the Judas Priest reissues today and the artwork reproduction is quite disappointing. Some are too dark (Sin After Sin, Unleashed in the East and Screamin' For Vengeance) or blurry (Stained Class and Point of Entry).

They didn't look bad to my rather undiscriminating eye. How do they sound?

I haven't bought the reissues myself as I'm hunting down used original copies instead. Hopefully someone else can interject on how they sound.

Still no details, and the Discogs listings are uninformative. Anyone know if these are any good?

I picked up Point of Entry (it was only 12-bucks) since all I had was a well-worn original. Vinyl is clean, flat and quiet - nice quality. And yes the cover, and album insert is a bit dark.

Sound is decent, not quite as good as an original, but not as bad as the compressed remasters. Not sure of it's origins - just one date on the cover - 2017.

    Worth the 12-bucks.

FWIW I also downloaded the MP3's included with the Point of Entry LP.

    Wow, a DR of 12!

That's pretty encouraging. They probably used a digital master, but at least a decent one. And that might bode well for Painkiller, which was recorded digitally.

Can't say for the others, but for POE:

Side 1 - Hand written MPO and what looks like an 8 or infinity symbol, then opposite of that 88985390851 A

Side 2 - Hand written MPO and what looks like an 8 or infinity symbol, then opposite of that 88985390851 B

No indication of a particular mastering/cutting engineer.

In other words, just yer basic reissue. :D

These are definitely good enough (and the Amazon preorder pricing was low enough) to replace my beat-up originals. I dunno about the standard $20 list, though. You should be able to find mint originals of most of the Columbia albums in the USA for $8-$20 depending where you live, although it might take a while to hunt them down.
