    Hi guys.

Look like I may be buying a Thorens TD 124.

Can anyone reco a good place to have it restored? I dont mind spending the $$$ but I want to have it done once, but right.

    Many thanks,

    Stereoguy.

Dave at Vinyl Nirvana (@ddarch here on the forum). No one better. I bought one of his TD 160's and will never upgrade. His work is off the charts.

Sts turntables did mine and they were great. They are complex and quirky machines and I am happy with the result of their rebuild.

As a TD 124 owner, I think part of the fun is being able to tinker and learn as you go. As our host has mentioned before, for the cost of a 124 it would be easy to buy a lovely table that was ready to go right out of the box

Sorry if my first post sounded discouraging... I just mean that you should be confident in learning about your table. You've got the added bonus of being able to scratch the itch to fix things :)

My mistake. My first thought when I see Thorens is always Dave.

I would have had him do mine, but he won't go there. Can't blame him...

I can also recommend Jim. I am good friends with his brother. He does fantastic work.

I think I am going to end up with a TD-124 after all. If so, I will use Jim to do a complete restoration.

I just wish someone on here would buy my Rega RP1 with the Shure cart to help me finance it!

    :)))))
