My understanding is that a battery is easy enough to come by but it is custom wiring to work with the player

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

If I could have looked into the future and see that Apple would buy their provider, I would have warned Neil Young, and bought all the lossless titles I could. Now, if I can't get them on 7-digital, I can't get them. The labels want to charge us an arm and a leg for redbook files, and that's why the Pono store isn't back. Neil won't allow it. I refuse to settle for lossy downloads and streaming. Period.

If you log onto the Pono Site and have a look at this thread it should tell you everything you need to know to replace the battery.

I wonder if anyone has the PonoMusic Vault 1.1 windows installer?
The link from Ponomusic website is no longer working.

Which Nano? The first gen with the curvaceous form factor, lousy battery life, and sound to die for? The 2nd gen with same form factor, improved battery life, and unacceptable SQ? The initial tiny rectangles with 2GB storage??

Maybe, after I gave up, nanos were close enough in spirit to Neil's pono 1.0 to warrant this kind of remark, but you're going to have to supply some more detail.

But...it does play high-resolution files and comes with 64GB internal storage plus an extra 64GB storage card...and a sophisticated DAC...and balanced outputs.
But, you are correct...it does look like an iPod Nano ;)

If I had to do it all over again, I'd have gotten a yellow. They seem so festive, and as 2017 draws to a close I need festive.

More like the earlier models. Say the 4th generation for instance.

What other color did they come in? I think they were yellow in every picture I saw.

I think there was a black model available at retail.

But I was a Kickstarter contributor, and for that campaign Pono had a variety of silver, etched-autograph editions on offer. My Pono is one of those: silver with a fake Patti Smith autograph, so it sounds AWESOME!!!!!!

Not trying to be difficult, but 4th gen is "early"?

I bought four iPods in all: three nanos, and an iPod photo. Two were awesome SQ machines whose sonics made me want to live, and two were just crap.

I thought I was the only person to buy more than one nano. :)

I was also fortunate to get the CSNY Pono (not used). I still use my other Pono for hi res listening around the house and out and about.

It's just nostalgia now, of course. Those of us who bought the player are being overly sentimental and the nostalgia is coloring how we see the Pono. /sarcasm ;)

Talk about sexy! Sexy for your ears that’s what. RIP Mr. Hansen and long may your Ponos run.
