I know, I'm just saying Robbie's getting it done. Meanwhile, Jeff is probably working on another greatest hits comp.

Actually working on 2018 and beyond. Will be more on Jim stuff than band stuff.

    No WFTS 50th Box?

So no Matrix box, huh? I've joked around before that Jampol is saving it for a 75th (or 100th) anniversary release. Now (sadly), I'm really starting to wonder if that might be close to reality.

It doesn't mean there will be no band releases in the upcoming years but the Morrison estate does have its own brand. I welcome solo Jim projects. JAM Inc. Top shelf.

Jim Morrison and the Doors: Ride the Snake: 50 Years of Classic Writing

    Description
‘Morrison fans will welcome the most vivid descriptions of the star's death ever published, an unusually sensitive treatment of his first wife, Pam Courson, and a previously unpublished interview ... His polished style and sense of balance, evident throughout, add luster to this well-explored subject. ’ -- Publishers Weekly

‘It seems appropriate that Hopkins, who co-authored No One Here Gets Out Alive, offered the first mainstream Morrison biography and the basis for Oliver Stone's 1991 film The Doors... Hopkins hits all the biographical high-water marks and provides new information regarding Morrison's family, the infamous Miami trial and, most importantly, Morrison's death, which was ambiguously treated in the previous book. Ultimately, the explication of the man who would be Lizard King is best left to Morrison himself, and the collection of seven interviews that follow the narrative yields the most insight ... this is a solid contribution to the burgeoning Morrison/Doors canon. ’ -– Library Journal

‘Hopkins, the coauthor of the five-million-copy bestseller No One Here Gets Out Alive, presents startling new material he has unearthed about Jim Morrison, notorious lead singer of The Doors. Hopkins now reassesses Morrison's life and death and provides insights on Morrison the human being. ’ -– Ingram

The 50th "Year of the Doors" has passed and what did we get?

A bloated first album set with no extras
    A singles compilation
A Strange days mono mix with no extras

Too little for such a big "Year of the Doors" propaganda, IMO

I guess the "Non year of the Doors" has more surprises than 2017 anyway...

The singles comp with BR is one of the archive releases of the year.

Agreed The Doors and Strange Days left a bit of a sour taste but credit where it's due.

Much better a full Matrix set 60th Anniversary anyone?

Also the London Fog and light my fire single. I believe the quantity is ok but the content is extremely disappointing.
Not to mention the matrix story.

Yes you are right, but it was the release that signaled the upcoming stuff.it is part of the 50th ann. at least promotional.

The Fog Box was outstanding despite what some here think. It also was a late 2016 release so you can add that in there.

The Singles box was one of their best in years. Fantastic.

The debut although didn’t have extras it did have basically a Matrix mix set which was new from masters and very good.

To be fair I wish the Strange Days release had more. Not sure what could have been thrown in there which relates to Days release. Not some random show from that time period. That wouldn’t make sense.

I also would add IOW show since that is coming in January.

So overall I think we got quite a bit. And really good stuff too. Clearly people want the Matrix shows which were planned for late 2017 but got delayed again.

Sure? You did not answer my previous question on why hasn`t an official announcement made yet. It is almost January. Not bitching, just asking.

They call Larry Bird, Larry Legend. Is he not legendary? It’s called respect.

The singles comp is great! And I’m glad to have the mono mixes of the first 2 albums on cd. They’ll go nicely with my DCC and Audio Fidelity discs.

The Doors weren’t exactly a prolific colossus when it came to writing and recording, so any extras (i.e. sessions) would be boring to me.

At this point it’s over but why did they go from The Doors box for $65 to a $15 Strange Days set makes no sense to me.
