You might be right. I don't know anything about how the deals made by Amazon or Walmart work. But, you have to understand how dire the situation is for recorded music. According to Wikipedia, the Buckingham/McVie album, which I thought was pretty good, sold 22,000 copies in the US in its first week, good enough to debut in the Top 20, where it peaked. But, because most people don't want to buy music, that's only about $330,000 in total sales (assuming $15 per album). Nicks' one sold out show at the LA Forum on the other hand, grossed $1,379,531. A FM show at the LA Forum would probably gross even more, perhaps $1.6 - $1.8 million.

We might both be right. She might just hate working with Lindsey except on tour. But, there are financial incentives for playing as many live shows as the public is willing to pay for. It's why the Stones, Guns n' Roses or the Who continue to tour without releasing new music. It's sad because we many never know if they are tapped out creatively, or whether they could have made a great album if they took time off from touring and worked on an album for a year the way people used to.

That's encouraging. I always really liked Danny Kirwan, a very talented chap. Sadly forgotten really, though the music he left was excellent.

Well a baseball stadium is generally a lot amaller than a football stadium. Especially the current stadiums and in the old days of Fenway and Wrigley. Playing Gillette Stadium is a bigger proposition than Fenway Park.

Wasn't intended to be a quick answer but it gives you in depth info if you want it. Someone else and myself gave you a few quick answers. You are welcome.

Sorry, I missed the quick answer. Was it no? I'm not enough of a Stevie solo fan to go reading in depth about her tours. From my recollection she always does double bills. In recent years with Rod Stewart and The Pretenders as has been mentioned. I think Don Henley was another tour partner in recent times. Not sure how many of those were in arenas.

I don't think she's done arenas except at the very beginning of her career and lately. Rod Stewart was a co-headlining tour (or a double bill, as you say). The most recent tour with the Pretenders, she headlined, but the Pretenders were an announced support act (which is different from a mere "warm up", but much less than a "double bill" - Nicks was the main attraction). I don't know much about the history.

She is willing to tour with Fleetwood Mac, that’s not the issue. It’s recording she doesn’t want to do.

That's usually correct, although a place like Dodgers Stadium can hold 50,000+ for a concert. Fenway is clearly smaller - I am guessing, but perhaps 1/2 the capacity of Gillette Stadium for standard concert seating? I can't imagine FM playing major football stadiums, e.g., Giants Stadium, the Rose Bowl, etc.

I think John and Christine are much more easygoing people than high-strung Lindsey and emotional Stevie. And JM isn’t running the sessions and telling Christine how her songs should sound.

From the looks of her tour stops she does mostly arenas and theaters throughout her career. She does the CT casinos and it's about 6K capacity but it counts as an "arena" which they even sometimes cut it in half so she plays from anywhere to 5-15K people depending on the location. I thought she did a club tour back in the early 90's when her solo career was probabaly at her lowest point with Street Angel but it was only a one-off show here and there.

I've seen FM 6 times in concert...and last month the Buckingham McVie concert I attended in Cleveland was the most Mac related fun I've ever had

I don't know if she's ever admitted that she just doesn't want to record with Lindsey but that's clearly what it is. she'll give excuses about how it's not commercially viable or that she doesn't feel like spending a long time in the studio. But those are just, as I said, excuses. When the others were in the studio recording what became the Buckingham McVie album she was in another studio recording her solo album. And they had already been working for a month or so when she went in to do that. I remember they expressed a little bit of frustration in interviews around that time about not being able to get Stevie to commit. They changed their narrative over time to omit Stevie from the story. And Stevie did another studio album only a few years before that. So it's not about the commercial viability of making an album either because she was against a FM album for years before that too.

There’s just something about her pseudo-Wiccan image and her songs - it seems like every woman of a certain age that ever had any countercultural interests when young worships her, though FM was the most mainstream band one could imagine.

Back when promo tickets for radio and record people were more plentiful, when a Stevie Nicks solo show would happen, I’d hear from every lesbian I’ve ever met in my life, seeking freebies and/or meet and greet tickets.

I’m not being perjorative. It’s just fact. In the pre Facebook era, I’d get calls from women I sort of knew in passing 20 years before. One of them that I’d gone to High School with contacted me through the old classmates.com specifically for that! Stevie still casts a spell, though it may be more a nostalgia thing now.

I don't know if Martin Barre still runs marathons, but he's still pretty darn slim and agile looking.

I think you could argue that one of the reasons why Nicks is almost as big if not bigger than Fleetwood Mac these days is because she was probably the world's first big female rock superstar. Yes, there were certainly pioneers before her - Grace Slick and Janis Joplin leap immediately to mind, and Heart made it big around the same time the Buckingham/Nicks incarnation of Fleetwood Mac took off - but Slick and Joplin were counterculture figures. Nicks wasn't. She was as mainstream as '70s rock stars got, outside of maybe Billy Joel. Sure, there was the witchy Wiccan stuff - although that's not exactly something that's ever been a part of the counterculture - but for the most part her work and her image were as solidly mainstream as The Eagles or Tom Petty or Steve Miller or any of a slew of other male acts of the era.

And I think as the first woman that a lot of women saw take that kind of leading role in a rock band, and produce work that was solidly and unapologetically feminine while operating in that rocker milieu, she earned a great deal of lasting devotion. It's no slag on Buckingham and McVie to note that it was Nicks who was responsible for Mac's sole US #1 single, "Dreams", or that she became the most prominent member of the band. She also had - by far - the most successful solo career, with 4 Top 10 and 8 Top 20 singles and 5 Top 10 albums, including a #1, back when that was a rare achievement for a female rocker (Bella Donna).

It doesn't hurt that Nicks - like Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart - was drop dead gorgeous. Along with Michelle Phillips of The Mamas And The Papas I think you could argue she's the most conventionally-beautiful female rock star of the rock era. A poster of Nicks would easily hold its own next to the iconic Farrah posters of the '70s. Indeed, probably the biggest surprise in her career is that Hollywood didn't latch on to Nicks and make her a film star as well - perhaps they tried and she just wasn't interested (I'm too busy to Google any history on that subject). While we think of that kind of beauty as only appealing to male audiences, the fact is that women also respond positively to beautiful heroines who are seen as boldly forging ahead against the odds, which in the rock scene of the '70s was certainly the case for Nicks. And there's no doubt that Nicks and her look had a big impact on girls and fashion circa '77 - '85, in the pre-Madonna era. She was the ultimate cool, liberated rock chick, and that continues to speak to audiences four decades later - her concerts are apparently still drawing in plenty of young women, which is really a testament to the staying power of the brand she built with her work.

On Dan Rather's The Big Interview, Buckingham said that after all these years his and Stevie's relationship was "still a work in progress." It was clear in the interview that Stevie ended their relationship and Lindsey never fully got over it, partially because they still worked together in FM afterward.

Why wouldn't she be? It's not like she's been sitting out any of the tours. They toured from 2013 thru 2015 and again at the Classic East/West in 2017
