Playing catchup the last few days listening to a lot of Blue Note reissued lps, I was blown away when for a change I put on one my favorite sides on David Bowie Low, It is Japanese pressing RPL-2105(AYL1-3856)
Anyone have this? whats your favorite version of this lp? This lp sounds great

I thought this was going to be about the amazing band Low. The David Bowie record is brilliant.

Strange topic. Maybe change the name? I thought it was about Nick Lowe:whistle:

    There’s a great R.E.M. song called ‘Low’.

I've said it before but my RCA Dynaflex black label USA LP pressing sounds absolutely wonderful.

I crack up every time I see a vague thread title. Like the OP assumes everyone is gonna know what it’s about.

I have about 10 different pressings of Low on vinyl (I've lost count, but it's around there). The original US is very good, can't go wrong with that one. Japanese pressings are good, both 1st and 2nd. Honestly, I haven't heard a bad pressing of it except my RCA International Black Label pressing, but it's probably more due to wear than pressing. There are some subtle differences, but nothing major between any of them. The 1991 Ryko pressing is actually pretty good, though hard to find.

I suspect you mean the 1991 EMI pressing - RYKO's last Bowie on LP was David Live. Like the other EMI pressings from this period it does cram the original and bonus tracks on to a single disc.

I pick that one because it's the one I have.

    That's how I roll.

RCA International green label pressing is nice. Townhouse mastered....

Yes, 1991 EMI. Yeah, it's a shame about the bonus tracks being crammed onto one disc. Side A is actually normal, it's Side B that is running nearly 30 minutes. Having those two bonus tracks on vinyl is nice (I just ignore the remix). It's not my go to copy, but it's an interesting listen.

  23. Well I do like the original label RCA from the U.S.

On CD the W.German for Europe is king.

The latest remaster sounds nothing like the original and is an abomination. Heck, the Mew is better than the Visconti remaster.

For those who have the original RCA WG CD, is the vinyl that much of an improvement?

I've got the WG RCA cd, a black label international pressing lp, and a US Sterling lp, but I've never gotten around to doing a comparison. Maybe someday. . .
