What’s better than two rugs for sound treatment? Two rugs and a CAT:)

Hank, is this grey thing an absorber made of melanine foam (sold under the BASF Basotect brand). Many acoustic treatment manufacturers use it for their products.

If yes, can you describe the effect?

I intend to buy two (100x50 cm) for the direct reflections from the side walls.

    Thanks

    Claude,

These are GIK Acoustic panels. The side panels are 244 Bass Traps for first reflections. The rear of the room are 244 Bass Traps with Range Limiter for broadband bass control in the corners. The sidewall reflection points, after install made the imaging so much better. Im hearing more direct sound from the speakers for sure. The rear treatments controlled the bloated bass buildup. The acoustic panels cost me about $485 and it was well worth the purchase. My listening room is odd shaped ceilings, tough room but acoustic panels helped me a lot. My panels are all 24x48.

Bad to the bone man, a killer “hot rod” system that would be hard to explain to a civilian for sure. Nice:)

At the very least, it's evidence that audiophiles c.1960 had it pretty good!

I love the CD player - I have the 5 disc cousin the RCC-1055 and it looks and sounds great to my tin ears on my low/mid-fi system.

Yeah, I've been really happy with the RCD-1020! It won an award from Absolute Sound way back in '02, and I bought it (gently used) from a forum member a number of years ago.

I'm not a big CD listener, but it suits my needs perfectly. BONUS: it can decode HDCD discs too!

Did you put it back in?

I have the mkI version of the HTS 5100 in my system, plugged up to a Tripp Lite Isobar (tank) surge protector. I can turn the dining room light on (dimmer switch) and NOT have the buzzing from it compete with the music, anymore.

Yessir. Once I decided to move the rack back to the front wall, the power cable from the power center was able to reach the outlet again.

This is a neat little line/phono stage tube pre-amp. I modified it a bit with new caps and resistors. Sounds really sweet.[IMG]

That's cause it's one of the best ever! All the integrated amps and the receivers from Yamaha in the 70's were excellent!

Tonight's entertainment - playing with Continuum on my Alcatel Idol 4S in my basement. I recently discovered that you can run Continuum with a wireless keyboard and display and that you don't need a dock. I'm floored by the capability! I'm using a Bluetooth keyboard from an old iPad 2 case from Monoprice. It works fine. You can see it on the table. My Epson Powerlite 2045 projector works perfectly as a display. The phone itself works as a touch pad in this arrangement. The capability really blows me away.

    Home theater system:
    Marantz SR7002 receiver
    Sony BDP-S590 Blu-Ray
Pioneer SP-99D Dolby Digital decoder for LaserDiscs
    Sony DVP-NC875V DVD/CD/SACD
    Accurian HDTV Tuner
    Dish Network Hopper
    Pioneer CLD-D704
    Sony SS-U542AV main L/R towers
    Sony CN-5000P center
    Athena dipole rear sides
    Sony SS-B1000 rears
Infinite baffle sub built with 2 Parts Express 15" drivers and a Vestax pro amp

Apologies for the huge panorama (which I took with the phone that I was running continuum on!) this is almost 360 degrees.

Edit: I should have turned on that Hamm's neon.

Yaqin MS12B, nice little thing. I had one for a couple of years along with an Yaqin tube amp. Certainly lots of value for the money.
