Most fans seem to have a problem with how Alan Doulas or Experience Hendrix have treated Jimi's posthumous out, so guys lets talk about how we Hendrix fans would have put together Jimi's posthumous catalogue in a properly organised/sequenced way.

    For starters.....

Individual releases of the Are You Experiended, Axis & Electric Ladyland Sessions
    Band Of Gypsies Studio Collection/collections
    Royal Albert Hall Rehearsal Sessions

Let's start with getting the "Pot" out of "Pothsumous". Otherwise, we'll be smoking too much of it... ;)

    The correct spelling is "Posthumous".

Humus is great. You take some of that and put it on pita bread and you really have something. I dunno about the pot, though.

  5. I wont try and tackle Jimi's pre-Experience material, but I'll have at go at where my interest kicks in:

Are You Experienced Sessions and Associated Singles and B-sides (Oct 66- April '67):

    Studio recordings:

Expanded Are You Experienced (stereo / mono)
    Purple Haze
    Manic Depression
    Hey Joe
    Love Or Confusion
    May This Be Love
    I Don't Live Today
    The Wind Cries Mary
    Fire
    Third Stone From The Sun
    Foxey Lady
    Are You Experienced?
    Stone Free
    51st Anniversary
    Highway Chile
    Can You See Me
    Remember
    Red House

    From the "Purple Box":
    Purple Haze (final master variation)
    Hey Joe (early demo)
    Foxey Lady (alt. recording)
    Highway Chile (alt. recording)
    Title #3 (previously unreleased)
Third Stone From The Sun (alt. mix)

From the West Coast Seattle Boy Box Set:
    Fire (alternate recording)
Are You Experienced? (title 4, unreleased recording)
May This Be Love (alternate recording)
Can You See Me (mono mix)
    Love Or Confusion (alternate recording)

    Associated Live tracks:

Live from Olympia Theater, Paris Oct. 18, 66
    Killing Floor
Hey Joe (both from the Purple Box)

Is there some Dagger Record release for the whole Paris show?

Associated BBC Tracks (mono / fake stereo):
    Feb 13, 1967 recordings:
    Foxey Lady
    Stone Free
    Love Or Confusion
    Hey Joe
    Foxey Lady (alt. ver?)
    Hey Joe (alt. version)

    Mar. 28, 1967 recordings:
    Fire
    Purple Haze
    Killing Floor

    Apr. 17, 1967 recordings:
    Manic Depression

    Excellent!

The only difference I would make is to use the correct and original sequence for the actual album with bonus singles tagged on....

    1. Foxey Lady
    2. Manic Depression
    3. Red House - Jimi Hendrix
    4. Can You See Me
    5. Love Or Confusion
    6. I Don't Live Today
    7. May This Be Love
    8. Fire - Chas Chandler
    9. Third Stone From The Sun
    10. Remember
    11. Are You Experienced?
    12. Hey Joe
    13. Stone Free
    14. Purple Haze
    15. 51st Anniversary
    16. The Wind Cries Mary
    17. Highway Chile

The correct sequence for the United States was used and @prognastycator resides in the United States.

The list you gave for AYE makes for a fabulous release, why either Douglas or RH couldn't see that is beyond me.

  11. That's a legit approach to tracking, but for the debut should it be the US or UK track order?

Trying not to be pedantic here, but I do think it should be the sequence that Jimi & Chandler put together on the original release from the UK/rest of the world. That said the list you put together is a fabulous one that seems to make sense to everyone other than those who are, or have been actually in charge of the catalogue.

  13. Anyone know if I missed anything?

Not to threadcrap but.....How about a complete pre-experience box set featuring ALL the recordings he made from 1963 to 1966 ?
Put it all in one complete box instead of spreading the recordings over different box releases.

There have been a couple threads on here attempting to do that.

Jimi Hendrix - a posthumous discography "redo"

There are some other threads, which I couldn't find through searching, that listed the officially
    released material by year/sessions.

  18. Thanks, that thread is similar to what I'm trying to do, but I am sticking to officially released tracks only, and taking a more chronological approach vs. artistic themes that seem to be popular in that thread.

I compiled these lists a few years ago - still valid, I think, until the forthcoming release:

Jimi Hendrix - studio recordings October 1968 - May 1969

Jimi Hendrix - studio recordings August 1969 - August 1970

Looking forward to Both Sides of the Sky - there´s always some great unheard tracks/versions on the EH studio releases! :righton:

Eddie Kramer Mojo Interview 2010. Just a brief comment. In most interviews he doesn't seem to like to talk about "Black Gold" or when the Royal Albert Hall film is coming out.
MOJO: Much has been made of the Black Gold tape by Hendrix aficionados.
Eddie Kramer: Oy vay. It's not the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. What's more important is what's coming up in the future.

BTW, Hendrix superfan Steven Robey was one of the few people who heard the Black Gold tapes in their entirety after Mitch Mitchell discovered them in his archives. He describes the contents in the book Black Gold: The Lost Archives Of Jimi Hendrix.
Here's what he wrote is on the tapes:
THE BLACK GOLD TAPES (Home recordings from Mid-1969 to Spring 1970)
    TAPE 1: Ideas for LP

    Side A: Suite: Black Gold
Suddenly November Morning/Drifting (available on West Coast Seattle Boy), Captain Midnight, 1201, Local Commotion, Local Commotion 2nd Part, Here Comes Black Gold, Black Gold, Stepping Stone, Little Red Velvet Room.

Side A: Elect Laster Blue Rock GPDS No. 1 Rough Ideas

Side B: Rough Ideas, No. II
Restless Kiss, Spanish Riff, Machine Gun, Valleys Of Neptune, Machine Gun.

    TAPE 3
Side A: Universe L.A., Unknown Song, Message To Love, Unknown Song, Sunshine Of Your Love.

That "Ultimate Hendrix" book is like the Hendrix Bible.
It lists every studio & live track they have in the vaults. Written by John McDermott, the co-producer on all these albums and has has heard the actual recordings.
Looking at the studio sessions, it really appears like after this they don't have any brand new songs left to release. They could keep releasing outtakes until the end of time but I doubt Sony or the fans would approve. There's several soundboard live recordings they could put out and a ton of home demos. They obviously must have some decent product left or Sony Legacy wouldn't have renewed their contract.
