Just preordered these 3 new remasters from itunes. 12,90€ for each is a good deal. I had the 2001 remasters, but I *need* the new releases (I skip "Release", "Nightlife" and "Bilingual")
Yes I hope they sound much better then the 2001 versions. I am curious about what source will be used for the main album and also for the FL disc. I do hope they can find the original masters for everything and start fresh from there.
There was an interview earlier in the thread of Neil saying that they wanted the remasters to sound louder. And the mastering engineer is the same.
I wish. I don't know why they didn't do the bonus material on vinyl as well. Surely there would've been some interest in this.
Question re the vinyl. Discogs says there is a Euro pressing only for these reissues and its mainly Parlophone. Yet, amazon US has the vinyl but say its Rhino. Are there US and Euro pressings for these reissues?
No, not that I'm aware of. Nightlife I picked up from Amazon US. It's a UK TimTom cut. I do see Rhino on the listing further down. Maybe their handling the imports
Thats what I was going to say as well. The CDs are the same as the UK ones (pressed in the EU) and imported.
Probably figured the market wasn't big enough. Makes sense. Kinda neat seeing the UK back in the manufacturing vinyl game. Normally we're seeing MPO,GZ, and Optimal. As far as I know Tim Young (timtom) did the vinyl, mastered and manufactured by Metropolis- Home
Great deal on four of the PSB Further listening CD:s from Amazon France: French DEAL: Four CDs for €18 | superdeluxeedition You could get ALL four of the latest ones (sans "Nightlife") for around £21 delivered to the UK. Not sure about delivery to the US. Seems to work for some. Read comments for more info.
Does anyone know if these remasters are done from the original tapes or will they be digital transfers from a CD master?
Latest remasters laid to wax. Re-leveled for the format presumably-going only by Nightlife as an example. Are you talking about the lp's? I think they are re-doing all these from scratch from whatever source they still have, for the main albums at least.
Nightlife is now part of the deal as well. The deal works for multiples of four. So you could get all five PSB sets plus 3 other titles. There are a few good ones in there, like the recent 2CD Smiths Queen is Dead set.
There were a couple 'mix' variations found in these latest so I'm assuming they went back to the old DAT's for these.
@Porkpie I know you prefer brand new cuts on vinyl, i'm thinking the new remasters for Please and Actually should probably sound pretty good. If I didn't have nice sounding originals I'd probably grab em
