i only own the Cd but have been tempted by the vinyl on more than a few occasions. Depends on your budget.

BYS and Lions get absolutely no love 'round these parts, do they? :D

I too fell off the band for a while after Amorica but got back into 'em before By Your Side was released. Wouldn't called it poppy, more like streamlined. The Faces and Joe Cocker influences are at their strongest on this one but the playing and sound is more muscular than before. And the next one is more difficult and also perhaps the weakest (I do not agree) of the original run but the wonderfully upbeat and gospel-like"Soul Singing"and the harshness of "Cosmic Friend" and "Cypress Tree" are more than worth your time.

Really, how can you say you like the Crowes and not love this one under here? And BTW, while a lot of people seem to dislike Chris R because he is a bit of a wally he is a really great singer and also somewhat underrated as a lyricist.

I love this band, but the German remasters I have are so lousy I hardly ever play these albums.

Much more than "No Rain" (which is a lovely tune, by the way).

Home after some holiday travel and got a chance to watch this for the first time today. Glad I picked this up. Looking forward to the new box.

I have one of these, I think it's Boston, and it sounds dismal. I guess they didn't have a Bear or Betty. The GD sold a recording of theirs for a while. I bet that one sounds great. I may have it.

I must thank @budwhite for turning me on to his countrymen. I had never heard of Trad Gras och Stenar before he posted listening to them on this very thread.:hugs:

Edit: my apologies. It was actually @Tone_Boss that turned our thread on to Trad Gras.

I'm sure I'll feel this way soon. I'm a little Roxied out for some reason. But I pulled the trigger on that box about a week after I read about it here. So, does it not include the material on Roxy By Proxy? I'm a little confused about the release strategy here.

The upcoming release features the entire run, including all the Roxy By Proxy material, but the mixes are not the same. Roxy By Proxy was mixed by Frank in 1987, and the new ones are, well, brand-new. Those first mixes by Frank are not perfect, but you can hear Ruth loud and clear, which is not the case with the Roxy movie, unfortunately, and that was a big letdown for me. To make matters worse, Tom is not loud enough either. Let's say that I just don't like the mixes that were done for the Roxy video release. I do hope the new ones are balanced and clear.
