I think it is utterly fantastic too, but I can't personally place it above the Original Trilogy since it wouldn't exist or make sense wihout it.

No sh!t. I re-watched them about a year ago, and they are so awful I would laugh out loud if they didn't make me facepalm so hard.

Technically, the Clone Wars is one of the Star Wars movies. No one has it on their list? (Me either. I've never seen it.)

Here's my list which is very similar to others here.

    1. The Empire Strikes Back
    2. Star Wars
    3. Return of the Jedi
    4. The Force Awakens
    5. Rogue One
    6. The Last Jedi
    7. The Return of the Sith
    After that, who cares?

I think Jar-Jar aside The Phantom Menace is a lot like the original Star Wars - Fun, otherworldly, and flawed. The original film has awkward dialogue, Leia's accent drops on and off etc...You could make an argument that 3PO is annoying in the original film, and no one in Phantom Menace is as whiny as Luke is.

Just my personal 2 cents. I just feel like people hyped TPM up so high that nothing could've lived up to it.

    Rogue One
    The Phantom Menace
    Revenge of the Sith
    Attack of the Clones

I know it's considered canon and everything... But it's essentially just a promo piece for the series.

I only give Phantom the nod over Clones due to the Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan/Maul fight, which is still probably the 2nd best fight in all of the films.

Rogue One was kinda cool and the last half hour of Revenge of the Sith was interesting. I can’t be bothered with 1 and 2 anymore.

Never bought into the Vader as Luke's father and Leia as Luke's sister. I enjoy Empire but it's not what I think Star Wars should have evolved into.

I'm not aware of any others.

Oh, I guess I could make special mention of The Star Wars Holiday Special, which actually seems more authentic now in light of the prequels and all those horrific "special editions" that have been endlessly appearing over the years, but only to warn any unsuspecting souls away from this travesty. In other words (to paraphrase Nancy Reagan): "Just say no!" :nyah:

I'll add Rogue One at #2. I liked it quite a bit and it don't think it requires any other movie other than the first to understand it. There'a a little bit about Bail Organa but nothing's mentioned specifically (IIRC) about his background or even his name. I think the series has had to deal with the baggage created by ESB ever since including the awful prequels.

I agree. Those were soap-opera moves. It reminds me of the (original) Planet of the Apes or Rocky film series. It started with a story that someone wanted to tell, but from the second movie on it was 'The Further Adventures of...'

While I'm perfectly okay with my apathy to the franchise (and I loved it when I was a kid and the first one came out), what I do have a problem with is the people who think there's something wrong with me because I don't follow it. 'Are you really an American?' and 'Are you a big Trekkie or something?' are questions I've been asked several times. When I don't get a passing reference to a character or quote, there are people who literally consider me culturally illiterate.

    "Are you really an American?"

Because, everyone who loves Star Wars comes from there.
