Since I have MoviePass, I've seen more movies in theaters this year than probably any other year of my life. Anyway, here are my rankings and ratings for movies I've seen that were released in 2017. I'm not that tough a grader, and so no doubt there's some grade inflation in there. Hope some other people will post their ratings of the movies they've seen that were released in 2017 as well. Even if you've only seen a few, hope you'll go for it. Obviously, there are no right or wrong answers, everyone gets to have their own favorites as well as duds.

I'll defer to my friend since he could use the views. This is a playlist of all the movies he's reviewed this year.

In the era of MoviePass, I can't even remember all the films I saw in a theater in 2017.

I kept waiting for something to bump "Get Out" from my personal picture of the year slot, and nothing ever did.

When I lived in Los Angeles I went to the movies all the time. I was surprised to see that the only movie I saw this year was Bladerunner 2049 which I would rate a A-. I hope to see Star Wars and Phantom Thread in the new year.

Well, on 100 point scale, imho, a C- is 70%, which I assume would be 7/10? But I think the two kinds of scales don't really match up. I mean, I think when people grade something 7/10 maybe they might mean a "B" or something? So, I'm not sure. Any ideas?

On several movies, your ratings are similar to mine. That's useful to me, because I can now kinda guess that I won't like Jumanji, Kong Skull Island, or Atomic Blond—all films I wasn't sure if I should bother seeing. Now I think I won't. So I just got 6 hours of my life back before I spent them lol!

The only top marks I'd give to any films this year would be

    Baby Driver
    and
    The Shape of Water.

Both were straightforward ideas of what we've seen before, but each film went into different directions that I expected and surprised me throughout. Both terrific films.

Everything else ranged from "OK" to "eh, not great," but nothing was terrible. I was disappointed with Blade Runner 2049, and thought it was much ado about nothing.

Chris DeVoe RIP Vickie Mapes Williams (aka Equipoise)

I loved it, as did Vickie who saw, as of last night 475 films in the theater. But her favorite film (not necessarily the "best" film she saw, but her favorite) was Brigsby Bear. It's completely unique, and unlike any film you've seen.

Best horror film I saw was Happy Death Day, which was a very clever reinvenion of Groundhog Day.

Is there really not a Your Favorite Films Of 2017 thread (not necessarily seen in theaters) or am I missing it?

No, I don’t think anyone’s started one yet. I would have, but I still haven’t seen a few major movies.

I've yet to see Baby Driver, Get Out, The Shape Of Water, Blade Runner and a ton of others. I've only seen one film in the theater in 2017 and it was Idiocracy for a private party, haha. Most of my Top 10 are documentaries. Let me know if you start a thread.
