What does Steve Hoffman think of the new Beatles Sgt. Pepper remix?

It's interesting to see the 2009 stereo remasters are almost universally hated now. Who could have predicted that?

In fact, SH has been quite restrained and balanced in his criticisms, despite the fact that so many here, including yourself, have speculated freely about his feelings on the subject in an attempt to justify their own point of view. Some pages back, you liked a post expressed shock that SH hadn't offered more detail on his opinion here, but then when he expands a bit on the topic, you accuse him of being "unprofessional". No doubt, if he had weighed in a more positive way, you would be trumpeting his perspective to the skies, so apparently you only tolerate opinions that track closely with your own. Why aren't you willing to let him convey his opinion freely on his own board where we all come to discuss audio quality on releases like this?

 

When the 2009s came out the 87s were totally trashed as being a rushed job, mastered from cassettes and having the polarity of the mono channels reversed. Now there's actually a blog explaining how to make the 2009s sound more like the 87s.

 

It will be fascinating to hear Giles White Album remix 2018. It'll be good to hear the extras as well. I know others won't share my opinion on the new WA remix. Hey but it will be interesting reading everyone's opinions.

 

I like the 2009 stereo cds I still enjoy them immensely.

 

back in 87 I was excited to get the box. after listening i was bummed...on the mono especially not even good sounding mono...and 2 remixes? WTF?! LOL

 

What makes you think that's going to happen?

 

Many love and are passionate about their Beatles music some will like the new mix some won't. From what I've read on the forum I would expect the White Album 50th anniversary would be released as pepper 50 did very well. I could be wrong.

This remix of Pepper sold extremely well. I'd be shocked if TWA 50th anniversary mix didn't happen as well.
