For those of you like myself who like the great sounds of The Drifters, do you have a fav,is it the great[Clyde McPhatter-Let The Boogie Woogie Roll-Money Honey] or the smooth[Johnny Moore-Fools Fall In Love-Ruby Baby] or maybe the cool[Ben E.King-I Count The Tears-Save The Last Dance For Me]perhaps it's[Rudy Lewis-Up On The Roof-On Broadway]or the soulman[Gerhart Thrasher-I Should've Done Right-Steamboat]all of em are great, but for me it's the cool of[Ben E.King]Drifters anyone?

The Drifters are up there as one of my all-time favorite vocal bands, and I could pick a gem or two from every singer, yet I'd have to side with Ben E. King probably.

Ben E. King would win a poll on this.

Perhaps Ben E. King, but Rudy Lewis would be very close

auld lang syne on TV, all the hosts were singing except mariah carey, she didn't have a teleprompter for the words and could not even lip sync it.

As each created a unique sound as they evolved, cannot select one over another.

Not knowledgable enough to focus on one of them, but never heard a song by the group I didn't like.

This may be a minority opinion but, I prefer the lead singing of Clyde McPhatter he had a gospel intensity
that could really propel uptempo tunes.

The one and only Clyde McPhatter with Jackie Wilson not to far behind.

  14. I'd say Clyde McPhatter for me, just in front of Rudy Lewis and Ben E.King, then Johnny Moore.

For me The Drifters were/are the greatest vocal group of all time. Stupendous singers, stupendous songs, stupendous arrangements. Unbeatable.

I have to go with Ben E. King. "I Count the Tears" is one of my favorite records of that era.

Clyde McPhatter is my favorite, but all were great. Quite a legacy of what was really multiple groups using the same name, putting out consistently excellent music from the early 50s to the early 60s.

    Johnny Moore for me.

As a child, I remember The Drifters having a major resurgence in popularity in the 70s here in the UK.
