No...I have no problem ppl loving the Giles remix. I do have a problem when someone has a problem with me not liking it...that's the norm.

    Prefer the psychedelic version myself.
    It's not nostalgia either.

I could, I guess, forgo any blame I might have to Giles for his work here, if the entire Beatles organization hadn't set themselves up for a $120.00 disappointment with a resounding, "It wasn't me". Sure, let's slough it off on EMI, since all they care about it "commerce", right. Well, I guess they don't give a crap about the sort of customer who might pay $120 for a bigger box and a hope they wouldn't poot out a lesser mastering job...because that will not be the one pny-ing-up $120, or any similar figure, for a chance to see how disappointing they can make the White Album. We've got a couple of Long And Winding Threads on here with plenty of suggestions as to how such a fan willing to drop a hundie would consider themselves satisfied with the next product they're preparing. If there's anybody in the EMI MessItUpAtTheLastMinute Department taking notes, I'm sure you can easily satisfy the hopes of the customers who really want you to suceed, if you just crank that compression a liiiiiiittle bit more - but hey, THIS time, maybe you could stuff, I dunno, a commemorative badge in the package? Or a lithograph of George Martin's notes on cocktail napkins. Or an exclusive interview with the Siri on Mark Lewison's phone? Or, howabout ALL the outtakes and workparts and discarded takes of "Revolution #9", or a "collectible" thumb drive in the shape of a Yellow Submarine.

Honestly, wayneklein, it's been a while since I wrote that, so I can't say what mood I was in at that point (which was closer to when my Visa statement for that month came in), but I realize there's no point in assigning the blame to Giles, or EMI, or the P & L reports, or even - - Yoko. Nope, since I had nothing more to do with the project except base my purchase on the reputation of satisfying releases such as the mono and stereo 2009 releases, clearly that makes me the one to blame for trusting them.

On the other hand, I'll be basing my trust on the results of the next product, on the results of this one. As I spend my money instead on a years' subscription to Grit, some X-Ray Specs from the inside of a comic book cover, and a bottle of Mountain "EXTREME!!!" Dew whose ingredients include "natural flavors".

Mixing and adding effects is two different things, is it not?
It in fact is........and yes I realise that it's common practice to add effects when mixing.
Still they are not one and the same.

BTW I am a musician who multitracks at home.....
I actually kind of like the sound of the "Remix" but I still consider it blasphemy.
The Bass guitar no longer sound like a Hofner with flatwounds.
This is blasphemy nearly to the point of redoing the bass with a session musician.
I don't care how good it sounds, it's principal.
    Peace

That’s not Giles’s fault as McCartney’s preferred studio bass by that point was the Rickenbacker.

Touche......Good point and I stand corrected, though I'm not sure what Bass he actually used on each song. That said the flat wound single coil imitation of a double bass tone is gone, in favor of a bigger sound. This is on Giles.....

I actually prefer to think Paul throughout the years played the Hofner in large part because he liked the instrument, as opposed to just for marketing. So odd he never gravitated to Fender basses.

Did Paul plug in, in stereo? I'm guessing the Rick basses in those days has the Rick o sound
    dual jacks...

    Rickenbacker 4001s ( stereo)
DI on all songs I believe.

There is no stereo bass on any Pepper track. Paul's Rickenbacker has mono output only.
Some songs have DI bass and some have mic'd amp.
IIRC, Mr. Kite has DI bass and Sgt. Pepper (Reprise) is an amp.
