Are there any great films that you'd never watch again because of how depressing/intense they are?

I thought Requiem for a Dream was a great film but I could barely get through it once. Its definitely not an enjoyable film to sit through although I admire the message its making. Same goes for the film Irreversible, could barely stomach it the first time.

I just binge-watched Ken Burns', "The War", on Netfilx, his 2007, 14-hour documentary about WWII. A truly gut-wrenching and mind-boggling history lesson. Everyone should watch it once.

I've sat through both Requiem and Irreversible, won't watch either again, but i don't think either one is close to being a great film.

I've had enough of David Lynch's ''Lost Highway''.

Interesting choice, I love The Conversation and have watched it multiple times. Im curious as to why you wouldn't watch it ever again.

I love it as well but the ending really freaked me out. I couldn't shake that certain scene from my head for about two or three weeks.

I think I can safely say nobody has ever accused Magical Mystery Tour of being a great film!!! I don't know many that even refer to it as watchable!

It's interesting that Looking for Mr. Goodbar is one of those movies that has mysteriously vanished, to the point where I don't think it's been legally available for home video for 20 years.

One film I don't think I could see again is Schindler's List. It's a very well-made film, but man, it's really, really emotionally wrenching.

With the rise of women in Hollywood in 2018, I think that situation won't change soon.

When it comes to war movies I've seen a few that are more disturbing than Platoon so its interesting to see it on your list. You're right about Raging Bull though, don't think I'll ever be in the mood to watch it again.

Well done and utterly depressing and not exclusively due to its ending, though that's the most depressing part. I've often said it's the most beautifully done movie I'll never want to see again.

Many if not most of the movies in the early 70s were bummer endings or otherwise intense and depressing. Steelyard Blues, Panic In Needle Park, Vanishing Point...seems every movie had to end badly for the hero/anti-hero.

I'm with you on Schindler's List. I was left feeling I had actually been in that place. I've never had any desire to return.

Man, we used to live for "Raging Bull." We used to quote it constantly. Watch it frequently. One one of the funniest movies ever made, introducing Joe Pesci to the world.

When it comes to quotable movies with Joe Pesci and De Niro I'd rather watch Goodfellas or Casino.
