Another Broadchurch fan here. A very well done series. Happy Valley and Shetland were also quite enjoyable.

I would also recommend Hinterland and Wallander (UK version of the Scandinavian show).

Happy Valley and Broadchurch were quite good, well I've only managed to see two seasons of each, I didn't know there was a third for Broadchurch. I agree about avoiding Gracepoint, and it was shot where I live.

The Loch and Mayday are a couple of other good British series centered on a crime to watch for. I liked Foyle's War and George Gently best of the on-going series, I guess it's the 'police procedurals' aspects to them I really enjoy, same as with Happy Valley.

I thought The Loch turned out to be a dud although I remained to the bitter end. Shetland has some good points but doesn't do justice to the Ann Cleeves books, far better is the Vera series, series 8 is currently airing in the UK.

I have noticed that also. I prefer the more realistic look of the characters in UK dramas.

I also prefer the UK dramas emphasis on fleshing out the story and charactaters versus attempting to wow the audience with explosions.

The Loch had the potential to be so much better than it turned out to be. I’d probably watch a second series, though.

Hinterland is good, but a bit slow at times. Still quite worth watching.
Make ya realize how bad American TV is at times!

I love BROADCHURCH. Several Dr. Whos on there. Season three was sure depressing though (as if one and two weren't!)

Agree...for people to say there is nothing to watch on television.
Like anything else in life, you have to seek it out.

I giggle at members on this site that don't watch television at all; stating that there is nothing to watch.
It's like saying that there is no music to listen to.

Kinda lazy, if you ask me.

Me too. She is terrific in this show, as is Jodie Whittaker (Beth Latimer).

Watched it a few years ago...great show. I'd love to find more shows like this. It's kind of like the TV equivalent of reading a great mystery novel.

I also remember watching Rectify, which is another really slow burner (pretty sure it's an American show). Netflix has been great for finding shows I've never really heard of before that have turned out to be very engrossing.

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, Shetland is a similar procedural; I think there have been 4 series of it so far.
