Why on earth would I list the lovester as one of my favorite singers? Lead singer who had the worst voice in the group with his obnoxious bleating? No thanks.

I love Afghan Whigs(along with NIN, my favorite US Music Artist from the 1990s(and their 2 recent comback albums and Twilight Singers in between), but I think Dulli's voice it terrible. Wish he would have done something like Garbage and looked for his 'Shirley Manson' to be the Band's Lead Singer.

    Since you pulled out a Great R & B Singer(Solo & LTD), how about a few others:
    Luther Vandross
    Alexander O'Neal
    Philip Bailey
    Felton Pilate(Con Funk Shun)
    Howard Hewitt(Shalamar & Solo)
    El Debarge
Charlie Wilson(Gap Band & Now 'Uncle Charlie' to the current generation)-his voice sounds a little like Stevie Wonder.
    Steve Arrington(SLAVE & Solo)
    George Duke
    Chaka Khan(Rufus & Solo)
Sharon Bryant(Atlantic Starr-I had to look that one up, as with most of these artists bought their CDs in the early-mid 1990s that was way after their active years).
    Freddie Jackson
    Barry White

I searched and she is here. John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Kate are among my absolute favourites. Add the Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison, Patsy Cline and some others.

One of my favorite artists, but her voice in her younger years is tough to take(for me), but like how her voice matured later. Really wish when she recorded 'The Whole Story', that along with 'Wuthering Heights' where she re-recorded the song with her more mature voice, that she would have done that for all the other songs on that album(actually would have been great if she re-recorded her early albums with her more mature voice by 1985 or later). The Music remains great though from the early albums.

It was an oblique pop culture reference, though you’re probably right.

Nice to see P.P Arnold here. She is probably not on most people’s radar.

Wuthering Heights is the only song where I find her a little grating (on the first version) but I still prefer the original to the remake. The child like vocals are, to me, particularly suitable for a song like Them Heavy People. She manages to pull out her more mature voice on the first album for The Man with the Child in His Eyes. She knew what she was doing even then, I think.

Have you heard Happy Rhodes. She's fantastically talented and has as similar artistic and musical bent as Bush.
