The original play-by-play announcer for Monday Night Football. He was offered the college football post he made famous after he was replaced on MNF by Frank Gifford. Needless to say, wise decisions all the way around!

Growing up, he was college football to me. As far as I knew, college football took four hours, not three; had a halftime show with marching bands; didn't throw the ball much; featured Keith Jackson.

Also baseball, basketball, auto racing, boxing, Olympic swimming and track... he was actually pretty versatile, although there's a reason every obituary of him will mention college football first and foremost. He and Frank Broyles were the best-ever TV duo for that sport by a country mile.

I had an uncle who looked almost exactly like Keith and was nearly the same age. Coincidentally enough, my uncle died just this past September.

    RIP, Mr. Jackson.

He was to College Football, what Pat Summerall was to the NFL. Grew up listening to both, and miss both.

As a Michigan fan, I'll never forget his 'Hello, Heisman!" call back in 1991 against OSU.

Keith Jackson epitomized everything good about college football. I loved listening to his broadcasts with Frank Broyles.
